This is a perfect tutorial. I wished I had watched this first. I have use the same locking method where the string at first wraps around in the opposite direction to how you spin it, but I mine are too high on the heads. I do this so infrequently. I really should change my strings more often.

This answers a question I’ve had for a long time with these three saddle guitar and perfect intonation. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to intonation and the guitar sounds sweet when you get it right, so six saddles it is for me.

I’m a newer player so here comes the newbie question. Why didn’t you tune the guitar first before setting intonation? When you set intonation, what were you doing? It’s help if you explained as you walked through what you’re actually doing on the fretboard and where and how. This left me just searching for a different video.

The solution to Telecaster intonation is Callaham compensated saddles. Go through the process and all of the stings will be properly intonated for around $65-75 Dollars and it is well worth the price! Enjoy! 🎸😎

I wouldn't call this a set up, just a basic string change to be fair. But I'm missing the ol' thug on the strings to give them a little stretch when tuning them up to pitch. That should help to have a bit more stable tuning. I would always advice a beginner to see a luthier/tech if there are issues keeping it in tune, instead of trying to fix it themselves.

Great tutorial; I'm getting ready to change my tele strings today. But - no initial tugs to stretch before tuning? And, you set intonation with the string in tune? I thought you were supposed to detune the string a bit, set intonation, then bring back up to pitch and check.

Really grateful that my Tele is the kind built with 6 saddles, apparently. Just acquired an older Eastwood Mandocaster, and instead of having four saddles for four courses of mando strings like their newer ones do, it has a *single flipping saddle* across all four courses, with one screw at each end for adjusting. Intonation is going to be interesting, but hey, it might be fun and I might learn something.

does intonating help with string buzzing? having buzzing problems with the low E and A strings
@deriktofil
@deriktofil 2 жыл бұрын
Nope.Fret buzz could be a number of potential issues. Could be you neck relief isn't set right, your action might be really low, problems with the nut, or it could be a slightly raised frets somewhere on the neck. Intonation is primarily to do with tuning.

Reading the comments, I’m amazed at how many here 🤷‍♂️ don’t know or are not interested in changing their strings. I’m not a guitar technician, but changing and adjusting the intonation on my guitars was part of my guitar tuition. I was 12 when I learned the basics of guitar maintenance. I’m 65 and still do my own maintenance on my the guitars.

I remember being around 12 and intonating, changing strings, setups, we’re all foreign to me, I was scared of it. Played until the strings rusted or broke, then the local guitar shop I got my strings from would put them on. Learning to do everything changed my life! Get new strings every couple weeks, guitars always intonated, no buzz, apply fast fret every once in awhile, it’s perfect!

Funny how some folks don't READ. This video is NOT about setting up your telecaster...it's about restringing and intonating it. While having 6 saddle bridge is easier regarding intonation, the classic telecaster has a 3 saddle bridge. A proper set up would have included looking at and possibly adjusting the truss rod but that wasn't what this video was about.

You are kidding with 6-7 windings...really. Those tuners are almost "tied" by themselves. Three to 4 windings at most. You are just allowing the opposite of what a locking nut or locking tuner does. I didn't watch the rest, but so sad. About 50+ years working with front bands on the road. Jesus

He doesn't know how to intonate a Telecaster. You compromise with the screw and then you set the final with the actual string height. The ever so slight distance the string has to bend to get to the fret will make it play sharper or flatter as needed. It is so slight that you won't feel the difference. But you can get a tele to play perfectly in tune. All of my tele are smack dab on.
