This was why Gary recorded a studio album called, "Blues For Greeny." It was Gary's way of paying homage to his friend. If you haven't heard the album you should give it a listen, it's awesome.

Little known factoid. Peter Green wrote "Black Magic Woman". It was originally a Fleetwood Mac song.

Loved Peter Green! "Oh Well" lyrics was one of the song's that got me through my teenage years! Thank you Peter. When I was 19 I saw the new version of Fleetwood Mac in concert,1977 in Calgary Alberta!🇨🇦 Great show! ✌💞💃🎸🎶🙏

I just went through a long post, it got deleted accidentally. Despite the vets prediction, she lived for a year. Had to put her down on 2/02/21 I don't worry about being a veteran anymore. Starting me on a 45-year of nursing. I have a lot of gratitue to the USN, and God. Lita and Cheech Cuz cases of Pepsi and a pack of Marlboros Sushi was from the Humane Society. People would hear that howling and would say no way. I know you understand what a Siamese would cost hundreds if she got sick, but we did it and we'll do it for Sushi. I just fell down again so I got to go

Kirk Hammet of Metallica now own this guitar “greenie” Gibson borrowed it and has made re creations of this guitar. They will soon be coming out with pick ups called greenies. It’s def a special guitar.

I was wine drink in a guitar store last weekend playing a Jack Casady bass the store clerk let me play and got talking to him about this, the guitar eventually was in a boot/trunk that got rear ended and broke the neck, I was telling the guy about my Hofner bass a luthier absolutely butchered the headstock on, and apparently that’s what the greenie guitar, even though near impossible to save a broken neck/headstock, but if you can, sounds 1 milllion times better if done correctly👌

Interesting, I saw Gary more play that guitar at the cotton bowl in Dallas,Texas from the front row.I had no idea the history behind that gitfiddle.. Gary Moore is fantastic player . So of course is Peter Green.

Fun fact: it's easily recognizable because the Rhythm pickup is actually put in flipped over with the screws toward the back. Peter Green I believe accidentally put it in that way and Gary Moore left it.

What happened to Peter Green sounds to me like he had psychological issues & lsd use made his problems manifest fully to the surface, psychedelics will do that. If you have underlying issues I don't recommend psychedelics, they're not for everyone.

I don't trip with anyone anymore & if someone is tripping & starts getting too weird I'll turn & walk away without saying a word

I saw Peter Green play in a pub about 25 years ago, he kept swapping between these brand new brightly coloured strats, every song. You could see he was struggling.

But what made music interesting at the time was musicians changing bands and new sounds being made. Jeff Beck in the Yardbirds, Peter Green in the Bluesbreakers, Gary Moore in Skid Row, Eric Clapton, etc. all formed new collaborations.

Peter was done with the guitar. I think he was being typecasted. He was done with it. It was the best decision he ever made. Peter green is more than just his guitar. It was just a tool for him. He could have played anything and sound like himself.

For your information, Green didn't play with The Yardbirds. Clapton, Beck and Page did play with them (in that chronological order). Green did play with John Mayall Bluesbreakers and then with Fleetwood Mac. 😎

I love this story, and Gary ranks among my 5 greatest of all time. I love Metallica too, and Kirk’s solo’s are “okey". But if it weren’t for the fact that Metallica is the biggest Metal/rock band in the world, i would say "greeny" is currently in the wrong hands. Hammett couldn’t hold a candle to Gary Moore’s playing. But i guess the fact that the guitar gets played in front of millions of people every year, is a good thing for the guitars legacy.

Well Gary should go and see if Buddy is in a good financial situation and if he isn't then he should sell that guitar and give Buddy the money or just go give him the guitar back that's what he should be doing right now

Poor Peter Green suffering from excess LSD usage wanted Fleetwood mac to donate their earnings and they refused which was ok he was in a different reality in his own mind and decisions made by him where not from a sound mind unfortunately. Though not as bad as Syd Barrett he still had a profound change to his personality and his life aims and ambitions.
