Yes. Definitely would appreciate a swatching video of A. Gallo. I completely understand because I had to set up a temporary place with folding tables because I had to have access to at least my watercolors during this long renovation! I even had a friend of 40 years laugh at my joy and excitement when I was sharing “my treasures”. She agreed. We all need that “something “ that can easily bring us joy and uplift us. She doesn’t paint, sew or craft but she finds the same thing when decorating her home for each holiday. Like me, she has very nice items from Europe as well as the inexpensive ones from Dollar Stores and everything in between. She just goes from Christmas to Valentines to Easter, etc. Her house is around 5,000 sq Ft. and every room is done and she even does her fireplace and doors. Her items range from 40+ years ago to brand new each year. It’s not my “thing” but she can feel better by redoing an arrangement or just looking at certain places. I’m just grateful we have found that special area bringing us joy and it does impact those around us. My opinion. Worth every dollar!!! We can get happy very quickly and there’s no better gift for our families. “When momma is happy everyone is happy but if she isn’t no one else is either “. Thank you again

Thanks so much for the request, Nancy! How have you been?!? I hope the house remodeling hasn't been too bad! You were very smart keeping access to your watercolors to keep your sanity, I hope! Yes, my friends think I'm crazy to have so many art supplies. Haha, I think they are crazy owning hundreds of shoes. So, it's ok we all like different things! That is so great you have had a friend for that long! It is very special that you can both appreciate and support each others passions. Yes, I'm very grateful I found my thing!! It took me long enough...and with our youngest 17 now, and rarely needing me anymore...I'm glad I found my thing! Absolutely!! I'm also fortunate many of my art supplies are from gift cards from my family! Thank you, my friend! 💗

@@TheGypsyChic1 hey Stephanie! Did you see my email address?? I’ve put together some samples of MGraham for you but don’t know where to send. If you will email me your address I will get them in the mail. Slow progress but I was very ill Dec. and Jan. so I am just now getting back into the house and remodeling. Did I mention we are trying to get the yard fixed up also….lol Yeah! Just got all 5 trees trimmed and they hadn’t been in decades!!! Four pecan and a white ash that I literally ran into a branch each time I went out the back yard. God is good!! Thank you for responding!! You definitely found your niche in the Knick of time! It’s going to hard when your baby goes to college…. I couldn’t have children but I have had so many friends who didn’t have anything else. Good news!! Haha, that sounds amazing but I have no shortage of supplies to try..so please don't rush at all. I didn't remember about your getting the yard fixed up, too. What a, exciting, beautiful mess you must have everywhere! I hope it is not too overwhelming and I'm sure it will be worth all the noise, etc. Yes, God is so good! Yes, I'm so very thankful I found art supplies, and art friends at this time. I was late, but the timing was perfect I think. It has been much harder than I anticipated, but like you said...I will be ok, and I have plenty to do to keep me busy! Thanks for the sweet note! I always love reading your posts. Nice haul! Blackwings are by far my favorite pencil to sketch with. You can get a whole shade range with just 1 pencil, the Japanese lead is superb. I prefer the balanced lead. Happy belated and enjoy!!

One more comment on the awkwardness of being watched: if you’ve ever seen the UK show, “Portrait Artist of the Year” (its’s available on YT) the selected competing artists are kind of under a microscope while they work….from the judges, from the public in the room, sometimes from the subjects taking a peek before they’re done. But I guess if any of the artists don’t like to be watched while working, they realized that if they want to compete in this show, it’s “deal with it” or don’t bother. Its sister show, “Landscape Artist of the Year” my fave of the two, is also available on YT. They go to some of the most beautiful and interesting locations in the UK to paint. I highly recommend both shows. I’ve learned a lot, in general, just from watching these talented artist’s paint and the judges comments on what, at least to them, makes a winning painting.

Thanks Nancy! Comment all you would like. I have my channel because I love discussing art things, pros vs cons, etc. So I love when you contribute! Thank you, I will be sure to check that out! I felt the same watching a few artists at Disney doing chalk art, and loved seeing their set ups, etc. I was super curious what supplies they used and there set up! Yes, I think everyone is different and some people enjoy being watched and knowing the joy they bring others. Sometimes I can paint on camera, when a company sends me a product etc. I feel joy bringing an affordable option to help others hopefully, as well as helping the company (most of the time, if I feel they are honest). But, sometimes it brings art block trying to think of what to paint and still be helpful. In person, I'm just still shy, and even on camera I think I just overthink everything. Haha, my most fun art is often with cheap supplies on my couch, because I'm just playing! But, hopefully one day I will love making art on camera or in person...and I won't hate editing and voice overs as much as I currently do. 💗

@@TheGypsyChic1 I love watching your haul videos. I get to see if what you bought, is something that I really want, or if it's something I can wait a while on. A lot of times it's "Add to cart" but I still haven't bitten the bullet on those Holbein watercolors in the pallette set yet. Those make my credit card quiver with fear, lol!

Thank you!! I'm it really helps me to know you are using my haul videos as I hoped people would. It makes me so sad to know, they make some people jealous. That was never my intention. I add stuff to my cart all the time, but I'm trying to be much more intentional before I checkout lately! My credit card rewards are my most fun way to splurge with no fear! ;D Btw, I found a Holbein dot card at ArtMiranda, I think is the shop. You might try that first, as unless you find the Holbein set for the price I did! 💗

@@TheGypsyChic1 I don't get mad about people having more stuff than I do. That's just an inevitable part of life that people need to accept; someone, somewhere, always has more. After I got a divorce a long time ago, I had to start all over on my own. I went to yard sales, garage sales, the Dollar Store, K-Mart, Walmart, anywhere I could get a bargain at. I swore when I got to where I didn't have to get the cheapest, or the middle of the road products, I was going to buy what I wanted, when I wanted it, providing my bills were paid, and that's what I've done. I like art supplies and that's my happy splurge to myself. I could have a lot worse vices than buying art supplies, lol! Thanks for the Holbein dot card info, I'll check that out!

Ha, I grew up thinking that...and thought the same! Now, I sell things I no longer love mostly or use credit card rewards, etc to splurge. YES, I have friends that have 100 shoes, etc. We all have out thing! ;D

Haha, yes I've had several people say the didn't see I had a video out. I don't post videos often enough, so KZfaq doesn't promote my videos. KZfaq promotes videos of the people who make at least 2 videos a week, etc. But, that's ok...that also means my real art friends see them! 💗

Lol That's ok, I'm mostly here for the art friends, the other extra stuff is nice but not everything to me. Just letting you know, so you will know how much I appreciate your comments. That's a great idea, my daughter suggested that too. When I see them, I kind of view them as a cash grab? I don't want people to think I'm only here to make money etc. So, maybe I will ask how people feel about those in a future video. Thanks so much for trying to help!! 💗

Lovely gifts for yourself! I picked up the same DS set of 3 colours to have backups of my favourite PO48 colours. My favourite travel brushes are the Escoda Prado line. They are a firmer brush and feel similar to Princeton Heritage or maybe Velvetouch (not as soft as Princeton Neptune or Aqua). I bought the set of 6, which includes a size 10, from Jackson’s when they had travel brushes on sale and I absolutely love them… I don’t feel the need to search for any other travel brushes. I am a big Princeton brush fan and they were my first travel brushes, while they are very nice, they are a bit softer than I like.

My favourite Blackwing pencils are the Pearl and the Black Matte 😊. Those copper pencils look beautiful!

Yes, the Princeton line has been hit or miss for me as well. Thank you, the copper pencils are beautiful. I need to try the Pearl and Black matte. I think the Pearl will be my favorite, but I need to compare them to find out now. ;D

I just purchased a 12 color set of the ColourSoft that was on sale at my local art supply store. Because of of the ColourSoft’s softness, I thought it would be fun to do a side by side comparison to Prismacolor,, much beloved and renowned for its softness. I used a pre-printed flower design coloring piece printed on “watercolor paper”postcards. On one flower I used ColourSoft and on the other flower, I used similar colors of Prismacolor. I can’t say it was a huge difference, but I think the pigment load of the Prismacolors were a bit better and that made it easier to get a good blend and burnishing. Then I found the ColourSoft to be more flaky & easily smearing than the Prismacolor. Now, knowing paper can be a notorious “make it or break it” factor in many situations, it could have been the paper (heavy but not 100% cotton) that hurt the ColourSoft performance. Nevertheless, IMHO, the Prismacolor outperformed the ColourSoft in my little test using the same paper as Prismacolor.

Thanks, Nancy! I really enjoyed reading your experience. I haven't tested them side by side yet. But, I find the Coloursoft a bit too crumbly for my liking. I have about 30 colors, that is probably all I will need. They have some nice violets, and I'm only curious if they offer a unique color. I much prefer the Lightfast, and Drawing lines from Derwent. So, I'm not likely to go testing all the pencils on different papers. But, I'm always curious to try a few of each pencils of the lines. The 100% cotton made the difference for me to like the Pablos, so I know exactly what you mean. Prismacolors are such great pencil for the money, with so many pretty colors. They are not my top choice, but I do love the buttery softness and I'm still happy I purchased the whole set years ago!

You can still get PO48 quinacridone gold by Roman Szmal (I think it's still available on Jackson's). But the one you got is a hue, that's why it's a different formulation :)

I bought the entire Holbein 5 ml tube set and paid around $400. If you goggle Holbein 109 watercolor tube set someone offers it for $200. I am tempted to get another set for backup but I don’t have the money right now

Oh, wow...what I beautiful collection that must be!! Haha, I can't be tempted for awhile either! I understand that temptation though. I purchased a few second sets of my favorites, during 2020-21. Only when there were really good sales, like you found. I purchased a backup Lightfast wooden box set of 100, when it was on sale for $180. Seeing the prices skyrocket for so many things makes it seem like an investment in my future happiness! I think your beautiful Holbein full set will make you happy for many years to come! 💗

Comment #2 😅 I would love to see a swatch of your A. Gallo dot card. 2022 was quite a year for me for A. Gallo purchases so this year I’m waiting until November/December to make a purchase from A. Gallo. I love watercolor blocks. My first block was Baohong Academy 100% cotton paper. Now I prefer not to tape down loose sheets. So I recently acquired a Windsor & Newton 100% cotton watercolor block and St Cuthberts Mill Millford 100% watercolor block. I haven’t tried the W&N block or the Millford block yet. I need to use up some loose sheets first. 😊

I'm going to just have a wish list for now and enjoy what I have. I love all my 100% cotton watercolor blocks too, now that I have smaller blocks. The big one I had terrified me, lol. You will have to let me know if you think the W&N is better than the St. Cuthberts Mill. I love that paper, and it is the only paper that I may love as much as Arches so far. 💗

@@TheGypsyChic1 you are worthy!!!! Your art is amazing! I reach for them even if my art isn’t always up to par because I am worthy LOL! I hope I don’t sound boastful but the paints are there to be used. I can’t wait until I have used them up then I can buy more! The paints are expensive but you deserve to use them. On a side note I find it hard to use my coloring pencils because when I sharpen them I see all the core that goes to waste. So I find watercolor paints are less wasteful and I don’t have a problem using them. Now I’m being silly since I buy from brands that offer open stock coloring pencils😆.

Aw, thank you Shadow!! I'm still working on that. I make sure I use everything at bit, or I sell it. The most expensive things are the hardest to use sometimes. It's completely silly, and I know that in my head...but that's why I love using budget supplies, where I play without worrying one bit. That is a great way to use them!! I'm afraid to use up my favorites. Yes, I think it is head games I learned growing up and I'm trying to re-teach myself. I have enough supplies to last a lifetime, so realistically I will never run out! LOL 💗

With the watercolours, you got that’s Caran D’Ache student one you can’t compare them to professional watercolour pencil brands they’re not made the same, or even in the same league. That’s like comparing Daniel Smith watercolours with Crayola and expecting the same outcome.

Hello, I'm just catching up on this video now. I live in Germany and the Prismalo watercolour pencils are really what you'd buy for kids here (& throughout mainland Europe) . When my kids were in school the smaller packs would be standard as school supplies or for regular coloured pencils it would be comparable to the faber-Castell red packs. The Supracolor watercolour pencils are meant to be the next step up in their watercolour pencil range. They're ok. But I wouldn't equate them to the faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer. The Albrecht Dürer's are significantly better. And then the Museum Aquarelle's I would say are the best. Enjoy all your lovely things though!

Thanks for the suggestion, Dianne! I did not realize these were water soluble! I didn't see that on the listing at DickBlick. I love having the option of using them wet or dry. I just tried it and you are right! They are a larger version of the metallics in the Supracolor set, now I have two new colors. I haven't found any metallic pencils that work that great yet, to me. So, here is hoping I find a great way to utilize them! Thanks so much! ;D

You'll get used to people coming over and eventually you won't care. I paint plein air all the time and what I would say is not once has anyone ever come over and been rude or offensive. It's so much fun once you get comfortable

Rosa Gallery is awful for glazing. It behaves like gouache. Its impossible to layer over to not disturb first layer. Pigment sits on paper and you need to be careful to not wet finished and dry painting. Thats very odd behaviour to call it watercolour. Its more like transparent gouache or other extraordinary category 😂

Hi Stephen! Sorry I didn't make it easier to understand. Caran D'ache changed their packaging to plain red metal tins. Each tin comes with stickers to peel and stick on the tin. I placed the sticker on the top of the Pablos tin. You can see it just before your time stamp. The same sticker set comes in the tins of the Pablo colored pencils, Neocolor I, Neocolor II, and Supracolor watercolor pencil. I've heard a few people mention they didn't know what the stickers were for, so I was trying to share what I do with them. If you have more then one tin ( I have four now), you essentially have extra stickers to put on the sides as well as the top of the tin. It makes it easier to tell which box you need when you store them. I hope that helps!
