I met and married my first wife in Hikkaduwa and married her in Galle ... 10 years later took 2nd wife for honeymoon in Hikkaduwa ... love the place. So this situation gives an added advantage for the tourists. And please make sure you exchange your dollars only from the banks. If you do it in shady places or on the black market, the Sri Lankan economy/people will not benefit from you.

Do you know something that I’ve noticed? Almost every Thai woman or south east Asian woman has such a beautiful and bubbly personality. It makes you feel wonderful and happy just to talk with them. Or even just to hear them speak. That is very different then where I’m from.

Great you two thought of visiting right now. The man with a wooden gadget and a sharp knife on his back (in the Kottu food corner) was a TODDY TAPPER. They use that sharp knife to trim coconut flowers in a particular way so that the flower oozes a sugary liquid. That gets fermented in a container attached to the flower and yields the local liquor TODDY. Enjoy your visit.

Slightly extra big shoes are a safty precaution.. ' considering the many uneven surfaces you'd be navigating through...

For me I wouldn't be able to eat the food from there; just the lack of tidiness and cleanliness and food storage would turn me off. I like the food by if my eyes can't eat it then it don't go in the stomach. I also very certain if the truth be told Sai is not to fussy about eating there either, but she is putting on a very brave face. She ate it because you brought her there Adam and she is a kind and has a mild spirit.. her expression and body language was saying get me ot of here now.. lol lol

Those are Soft Shell Crabs. One can get them in the U.S. as a Sandwich, bun style just like a Burger. They are dredged into a batter and deep fried and served on a Burger Bun . Most Seafood Restaurants have them on the menu if the crabs are available.
