Turns out the only thing that can beat a Tesla Model S Plaid is… another Plaid. Whenever one comes on TvT, it mops up hero cars thanks to their instant torque, 3 electric motors and whatever other beep-boops Elon threw in. Then you can get MORE beep-boops put in like the Track Package, (which adds another set of variances) and… Pretty sure flying to Mars would be less complicated.

sequential vs automatic would be the better comparison because too many people think the only manual is a traditional h pattern and a clutch pedal to push down every shift when you say manual. Xtrac vs DCT would be a good race. Unless you do a normal automatic.

I liked this race. It's always Tesla vs something else, but never Tesla on Tesla. Very nice being able to see what the various options actually do when used in anger. Chill mode is clearly "someone in here is asleep and we mean to keep it that way" mode. This vs This with different option packages on the car - auto vs manual, sport vs track, etc. would be really cool to see. Every formal test is the base model or the tricked out version, so you can't really tell what your money gets or doesn't get you. Bravo to the editors. Wasn't expecting the Jetson's car noise.

@@MrImpalaRider these run around 120 MPH to 660 ft , 152 to 1320 and 184 to 2640 with the track package the regular one tops at 174 before the half mile. Both accelerate the same as the track package don’t add any power.

So as I understand, the Track Package is an add-on option that is meant to make the Model S perform better on a *race track*...which is different from a drag strip. The Track Package includes different wheels and tires, ceramic brakes, and removes the top speed limiter (Plaids are limited to around 165mph) All the Plaid Model S comes with a drag strip mode, the software will heat up the battery to maximize output (its called 'Peak Performance Ready) and the car will lower the suspension into 'cheetah stance' just before launch for optimal take-off from the dig. The factors that make the biggest difference at the dragstrip are better tires and weight savings, like lightweight wheels and removing parts of the interior.

Yeah, this is a good understanding. But also as part of the trackpack, the rotational mass is significantly less and the wheel and tire package is also much lighter. However, my car was running HRE 104 is not the trackpack wheels. The stock brakes are not only ineffective. They’re also stupid, heavy, but gains are meant for a road course for sure we just had The suspension completely redone from unplugged performance, and the car out buttonwillow two weekend ago

The only limitations are grip and weight honestly the motors have more to give and the traction control algo is as good as it gets from Tesla. Since this shoot my car has also had full race suspension upgrades but my build is more focused on the canyons and road courses not drag racing.

But let's not forget that it's just a beginning for EVs. Give it another 2 or 3 decades and let's see what that will give us. Even now there is next gen battery technology that will soon hit the roads which is twice more energy dense and twice as light. Meaning the same range for half the weight. And EV with the weight of a sports car and proper aero would be unstoppable.

I've been trying to make up my mind whether to get an EV or another diesel for my next daily. I actually want an everyday EV, but it's finding one with the features I want, so I might just get a newer version of the Golf diesel I already have for now, but damn, if any of them made TIE fighter noises... I'd be straight in there.
