Definitely considered a classic for a reason! BTS trivia regarding the final shot: when Damian turns to the camera, he was meant to just hold a threatening look. The director off camera was telling him as they were filming, "Don't smile. Don't you smile." and the kid broke out into that appallingly sweet (in the context of the scene) grin. And it became... iconic! Oh, and the music was the only horror score to ever win an Oscar. The same composer (Jerry Goldsmith) also composed the scores for II & III, and the three together comprise a sort of dark symphony. The music and sound design in this year's prequel was exceptional as well (composed by Mark Korven)!

@@e.c.1975 the "First" Omen deliberately effed it up with a convoluted retcon of the original classic. Damien's mother in the original was a female jackal that Satan impregnated. So Damien as the Antichrist wasn't really human at all, just born to look human.

I always thought the priest was saying "his mother was a JACKAL" or something like that, and the skeleton in the grave was that of a jackal. Saw this film in the theater as a kid during its initial run. The governess hanging herself at the birthday party freaked me the f out. I love the spooky cemetery raiding scene, it really establishes the mood for the rest of the film.

I love that Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett apparently watched this and asked "but what if the people carrying out the baby swap were really really incompetent?" Also it's weird to think that in the span of a few years, Richard Donner directed two movies about an "unsuspecting human couple accidentally winds up with a superhuman child and they don't quite now how to process the revelations of raising a demigod". One was this; the other was Superman.

A lot of the classic horrors are much better than the modern ones because they rely on suspense and story, not gore, violence and cheap jump scares. While there are 1000s of great horror films, I've compiled an essential viewing list of genre-creating/defining, iconic, impactful horror films in pop culture. I'm talking the BIG films that everyone on the street knew about. These films inform every other horror film/trope, and mostly spawned franchises. If you start with these, everything else will fall into place. 1961 Psycho 1968 Rosemary's Baby 1968 Night of the Living Dead 1972 Deliverance 1973 The Exorcist 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1975 Jaws 1976 The Omen 1978 Halloween 1979 Alien 1980 Friday the 13th 1981 The Evil Dead 1982 Poltergiest 1984 A Nightmare on Elm Street 1996 Scream 1999 The Blair Witch Project 2004 Saw 2007 Paranormal Activity Plus one of my personal favourites: The Haunting 1963 (was adapted into the netflix series House on Haunted Hill)

Fun fact: that hospital elevator is called a Paternoster lift, also cyclic chain lift. They’re only found in parts of Europe and Asia these days. I think The Hague in Prague has one. The up and down sides are linked as the cars travel on a continuous chain loop with large pulley wheels at the top and bottom, like a vertical conveyor belt. The constant motion, and having to step in and out while the cars are moving, did end a few lives, and cause lots of injuries. Ankle injuries were plentiful, when stepping into a descending car, once the car was too far below the floor. Patience can keep ya safe with getting on or off a car in a paternoster lift, and never ride a car up over the pulley and down the other side. They would jam when people tried it, and they’d get stuck in a difficult to access part of the system. Nice reaction!

Not necessarily for the channel, but the actual verifiable deaths that really happened are interesting. The one about the girlfriend of the guy who came up with the beheading shot is particularly creepy. My favourite line: If it was a love story we'd be talking about the romantic moments that happened on set. It's only because it was a horror movie that everyone's so focussed on all the deaths.

I’ve always preferred this over The Exorcist, I know they aren’t really similar but I always see them compared but this movie always stuck with me after seeing it when I was a kid.

Love this movie and part II is great as well. Gregory Peck(Damian's father) was not only hot as an old man, but back in the day in those black and white movies too. Super reaction guys. New sub!

For the auditions for Damien, the children were instructed to "attack" the director convincingly. Harvey Stephens won the role by kicking him in the balls and clawing his face. So...yeah he's adorable but a little bit terrifying.

The horror bandwagon is officially apart of my nightly routine I smoke and watch these two and lemme tell ya 1000/10 would recommend!! 💜

I’m watching this for the first time through your channel. It’s a good movie, I agree. I also didn’t understand the thing with the dogs since in most movies, dogs and other animals fear evil, rather than protect it.

You children are just Stellar.....reactionary,genuine and a bit campy. So much FUN is had by listening to your little patter and remarks, This film is a real gem...this was 1976...all practical effects....no computer generation magic. The music (all that Gagorian chanting)....the mood...the actors where all top notch. There are 3 movies of the Omen...#2 is the better of the last 2...a bit more gore...but again, practical effects. This was a great overview of this genre..thanks fellas! Continue snatchin' those crumbs...you are both too real....and Bourbon, also!

I kept getting pissed off at Mrs Baylock and Damien creeped me out at the end when he looked at the camera 😂 I did watch the second and third movie just cause and thought they were okay still enjoyed but I loved the first one more 😅

The omen is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. Also like back in the day, I wasn’t that into religious horror either but this movie made me appreciate religious horror, a lot more. Because this movie is religious horror done right. I think you guys should do some research on the making of this movie because honestly what the filmmakers had to endure and go through to get this movie made is honestly so much more scarier than the movie itself. Because it is believed that there was a curse during the whole process of making the movie. And they believed that the devil did not want the movie to be made so there was a lot of unexplained deaths accidents gone wrong and also before they began shooting the film, and after Gregory Peck was cast in the role his son unexpectedly committed suicide by taking a revolver and blowing his brains out in 1975. And the special effects guy who created the beheading scene one day after the film was released. He got into a car accident that left him injured, but also killed the passenger, and the passenger died the same way Keith Jennings died in the film, she was beheaded and it all happened Outside of the town of Omenn right near a sign that said Omenn 6.66 kilometers away. That story said shivers down my spy. When I first heard it I mean it’s too good to be true that they’re definitely was a curse and the Devil and his demons were at work.
