Three families all struggling to cope with their tearaway toddlers have been invited to live here and try and turn their lives around in just 6 days. The person who’s going to help them with this mammoth task is clinical psychologist Dr Tanya Byron.
The design and construction of the house has been completed in conjunction with a committee of childcare experts to make sure that it is a safe, fun place for kids to stay. Whilst also re-creating a realistic and practical home environment. The remote cameras and those located behind the 2-way mirrors allow Dr Tanya to observe the pitfalls, the progress, the tantrums and the tears, 24-hours a day, every day.
For the families chosen to be part of this unique program, this is make or break. For Dr Tanya Byron this is the biggest challenge of her career.
This is the House of Tiny Tearaways.

This is a serious question, so please, if any one knows, how can a person love a child like that? I watch this in horror thinking that if that was my child I would be trying to find some place to place him in. I really don't believe that he will ever be a pleasure to be around.

Spanking is lazy parenting. It teaches a child to fear you, not respect you. If a child is "old enough" to be hit, they're old enough to reason with. If they're too young to reason with, they're too young to understand why they're being hit. Spanking children has been proven time and time and TIME AGAIN to creat unstable, mentally unwell, unhappy adults. It's our job as parents to help children understand and work through the big emotions and feelings they have that they don't comprehend yet. Also, how do you discipline a child for hitting? By doing the same? That's hypocritical.

I think Rowan needs time. He doesn't communicate well and mom& dad are not taking the time to listen. The clip featuring Rowan's massive tantrum during lunch has us seeing more than one instance of him saying one thing, it is completely ignored which escalated the tantrum.

I wonder if anyone ever sits these children down and says no ?? How do parents let them grow so out of control ? My son born way back in 1971 was similar. 1976 began school, hated it. Used to come home so full of anger. Used to place him in his bedroom and hold the door closed until closed. Nothing new. but now many people are making a fortune exploiting their children ??

Something needs to happen to bring about change in him. But some thing just tells me that he was simply born this way and no amount of counseling will change him. I only see prison in his future. I hope I am wrong .

@@alicedahl7532 Well since this was filmed years ago it’s possible to check up on how’s he done so far, at least. But I can’t find this full episode! I think I’ve only found three other weeks’ worth of families, on another channel. I like the British version better than the American one though I can’t exactly say why. The hosting is still awkward on both.

Ok, first I've raised several children my children (3) as well as many, many others and now I have (6) grandchildren and I'm telling you right now that nothing is going to be solved with the way this is being handled!! If this is suppose to be a place "equipped " to handle problem children, I think they are failing, and failing big time!! There is no structure, the kids wondered around aimlessly waiting to bully or be bullied, its a really bad sign when the woman who is in charge, her son is out of control. Theres no lesson of expected behavior, no warnings, follow through. But it is entertaining. I wonder if they will have a sequel to this in a few years, I'm sure at that point they will be knocking mum around

Joanne, I agree 100%. Do you get the impression from these TV shows parents seem frightened of their childhood and will move heaven & earth to stop children from crying? I had 4 children (3 boys + 1 girl) and I would let them cry if it was tears of frustration, anger or simply being tired. Nobody had the sleepless nights with children moved right into their beds because we put them in their cribs when small and let our children cry themselves to sleep while sneaking peeks to ensure child was ok. This seems unheard of now. And our children didn't strike us or call us names. So I'm having trouble ascertaining why parents for this generation don't have a clue. If they did there wouldn't be children like little Rowan and his brothers.

Adding to the problem is Rowan's speech. Even when not shrieking he is difficult to understand when speaking which makes him even more frustrated I think. Also when mom confronts him stating he should not hit mommy, he won't make eye contact. I do like that Mom makes the little fellow walk instead of picking him up and carrying him like other parents on the show. Rowan's tantrums appear to be motivated by him wishing to have mom picking him up and cuddling him.
