The way I fucking crumbled when Cinna died 😭 The way they chose right before she went up, to disorient her the most. It wasn’t even about killing Cinna, it was about breaking Katniss.

@@peterpumpkin7745yes the books explain it better (which I haven’t read in a long time so excuse if I remember my incorrectly) Katniss of course doesn’t know for a fact but in the moment assumes they’ll either imprison or kill him. Later in Mockingjay/District 13 they confirm he didn’t make it. Yes it was a strategic move to get Katniss emotional and freaked out so she didn’t have a clear head at the start of the games, but they also wanted to punish and get rid of Cinna because he made the mockingjay dress for Katniss and was clearly adding fuel to the fire of the rebellion. Snow wanted him gone along with the victors

Dang. Cinna’s first time escorting Katniss to the tube, he keeps his distance. Maybe so he doesn’t get too attached to her. Or because he knows she’ll win and he’ll see her again. Second time he escorts her. He stays close. Then hugs her for the final time. Knowing he’ll die for the outfits he’s made to mock the capital.

The first moment I knew Plutarch had another plan was when he immediately stopped the cornucopia from turning when Katniss fell in. He was willing to sacrifice anyone else as collateral damage but not Katniss

Yes !!! I always wondered why he made it spin in the first place and I had two thoughts, either it was too early to let katniss kill the ones she was after or he thought she might’ve been putting herself in danger

Well in the books katniss never actually fell in, but technically this theory stills works as in spinning it to protect katniss from the careers but having that overlapping statement that it was to distort their time if he needed to explain to snow

Well, Jays (and Mockingbirds) are highly intelligent and well-known for their ability to mimic, so it makes sense that the Capitol would model a muttation after a Jay. I’d say it’s more of a reflection on the birds themselves and what they symbolize in the series.

If you remember who the head gamemaker is, it’s Plutarch who is part of the rebellion. He’s the one who designed the arena and was pretending he was on Snow’s side, but he didn’t want katniss dead. He wanted to get katniss out and get her to district 13 to be the face of the rebellion. Plutarch is the one who had half the tributes on this plan, so that’s why so many of them are on her side and are working on keeping her alive even if they sacrifice themselves. Plutarch doesn’t want her dead at all, the bow is there so she has a weapon she’s good at that helps her to stay alive, even if she couldn’t get allies like they planned

Correct me if I'm wrong, but spinning the cornucopia was kind of pointless. Unless they moved the places on the clock off screen all they would need to do is look for the lightning tree and they know which spots on the clock are what

I mean I assumed they mixed up the hourly horrors. Yes the lighting tree was the foundation, but the blood rain and monkeys and stuff could easily be switched around. Also I haven’t read the books in a long time so I can’t confirm, but I saw another comment saying that in the books every slice of the clock had a big identical “lightning tree” that helped them map out each segment, but only one tree would get hit with lightning?

In the book it states there was a “lightning tree” in each portion but it was only struck with lightning in the 12-1 portion which was where the tail of the cornucopia initially pointed. So they had to wait several hours (until the big wave) to figure out which quadrant was which again

The spinning of the cornucopia was extremely smart on the Capitols end. They spun it so Ebonara and Brutus were able to leave. Without the district 2 tributes, the only people alive were the allies. They would of figured out how to all leave without any difficulties.
