Yeah, it was a bit of a worry, especially in the panga long boats we were in up in Kioa, but the islanders aren't super safety conscious in that regard and there weren't any available for us to wear. We do use waistband lifejackets at times, which are worn like a belt, but they need to be opened up and put on before they're useful, so no good in the event of a crash or flip. The other thing to be aware of is that a wetsuit is considered a flotation device (so long as you're not wearing a weight belt) as they're very buoyant.
