9:20 Europe is basically nation state based on tribes that why you ethnicity based nation like German dutch polish french, Belgian and son on then come sub ethnicity like you mention in mountain people..... it can be one as political single entity but too protective and proud of who they are and fear of getting diluted but eventually it happens in name of European (which in reality is like cosmopolitan individual pretending to be everyone in reality he belong to nowhere ( practically speaking you passport , driving license voter card so on )

The highlanders feel like Poles and their language is the regional slang of spoken Polish. I am a highlander by origin and although I do not live in the mountains currently, when I come to the mountains I have no problem speaking in this slang.
