Bullets being fired along with the casings were used for a better illustration of different caliber rounds... Thanks for pointing out that the casing is ejected after firing! 😉

0:00 that is one of the worst rendered M16 I've ever seen! 0:50 Gewehr 43 posing as M2 carbine 1:15 AR-10 magazine is on backwards 2:51 Bullet fired with a casing attached 3:06 (continues throughout the entire video) Out-of-period AR-15 variant with optics rails and adjustable stock, also mag wrong way 3:08 That's a pistol round, also shell casing still attached 3:16 *sigh* Does anyone at Infographics know how firearms work?! 3:42 upper and lower receiver and grip shown as being manufactured together 5:17 FINALLY a proper AR-16/M16 graphic. Too bad the ejection port is on the wrong side 5:33 5:41 9:28 Modern soldiers posing as 60's soldiers 6:23 Is he cycling the M14 after each shot like a bolt-action rifle?! 6:41 Russian GP-25 grenade launcher on the M16 with a bayonet attached under it 7:46 a whole bunch of different guns in a pile and only one of them is an M16 and even that is a later design A2 8:00 (goes on throughout the video) M4A1 posing as M16 8:18 That's not an M16A1 9:45 Those are both M4:s One is just slightly better drawn than the other

I remember shooting my M4 in basic over and over again. It taught me to trust my rifle, you be surprised how reliable it is, the only times it has jammed was due to collective amounts of wet sand getting stuffed up in the chamber due to hours of training day after day in the field, and even yet is fairly easy to clean , usually the problem lies at the star chamber (rip for double feeding rounds). Even as reliable as the M4 is I wish it were a bit more debri resistant, after getting into prone position multiple times and low crawling the M4 jams frequently due to the harsh sand getting stuffed up in it slowly.

Colt: For the M16 to work properly, use this clean burning gunpowder. U.S: Naa we got a surplus of M1 Garand gunpowder.
@RockandrollNegro
@RockandrollNegro Жыл бұрын
It was less an issue of having a surplus and more an issue of the military producing its own Ball propellant at the Picatinny Arsenal. The DuPont powder was manufactured by a private entity, which created a logistical and financial problem that didn't exist when the military could make its own powder in-house. Unfortunately they didn't bother testing Ball powder in the .223 as thoroughly as they should, or they would've realized that the calcium carbonate in Ball would lead to fouling and corrosion. I'm willing to forgive them for the gunpowder fiasco, but there's no excuse for the military issuing them with no cleaning kits and telling the troops they were "self-cleaning" in order to hide the fact they were short on .22 cleaning kits. Nor is there any good reason they tried to save a few cents by not chroming the barrels.

@limpingllama57
@limpingllama57 5 жыл бұрын
MR.dmz Yes, they are the same things. Armalite made the ar10, then the scaled down ar15. Colt then bought the rights to the ar15 on 1959, made some changes, called it the car-15 (Colt ar-15) and submitted it to the military, which adopted it in 1964, and upon accepting it, they designated it the m16 assault rifle. Same exact gun, different name.

After doing 13 years in the Army, I found the M-16A1 & A2 models very reliable. I started off with the A1 in 1985 when I went to basic training, OSUT, MOS 19D10. The A1 never gave me problems while on field problems. I first got the A2 at my second duty station in Korea (ROK). We were moved up to relieve the infantry for a couple of days so they could get some rest. We had to qualify with the A2 before we went on patrol, I was very impressed with the new round for the A2 over that for the A1, a little bit more kick but very accurate.

I feel like many veterans here would probably remember holding an M16 with the old-school "triangle" shaped handguard. These were most common back in the Vietnam War.

Yeah that confused me. Maybe what Tyler said and maybe going into the Columbian jungles after the cartels? Doubt it though, probably just wrong.

According to Forgotten Weapons the forward assist didn’t actually have anything to do with its reliability or perceived reliability. He said the Army leadership wanted it because the M1 and M14 both had something for the soldier to push on, and it might be comforting for them to have. That’s supported by what I found on Wikipedia and some other sources. It’s funny how many designs and procedures persist just because ‘that’s the way it was before’ or ‘that’s how we’ve always done it’
