You've committed a crime and you've been found guilty, but instead of going to prison you are out on parole, but what exactly does that mean? In today's educational video we are looking at what the rules are for being out on parole. But one slip up could mean serious jail time!

It would depend on what the crime was and if they are truly remorseful. Repeatedly punishing someone after they served their time is a way to guarantee that they remain a criminal forever as they will usually only find acceptance within the criminal community. So ya I could date and ex con

So much this. It's just like addicts. If they truly want to get better you can't keep throwing their addiction in their face and punishing them for it. Yeah tough love is needed... I was on parole in NY state from 2016 or so til 2018... I actually got violated for getting caught staying overnight with tinder girls too many times. I didn’t meet a single woman who cared I was on parole... most of them thought it was hot. Plus too I was jacked at the time since I spent my days in the yard gettin after it while locked up... I actually miss those days man, never slayed so much tail before or ever again after. I ended up getting one of those girls pregnant and was released from parole shortly after. Now here I am, 30 yrs old with beautiful little girl and work as a software dev (though I had my cs degree before getting in trouble). The mother of my child only knew me for about 3 weeks when she found out she was pregnant and decided to keep the baby. We’re still together. Wild right ?

It's better to stay in jail, sit back and collect money rather than land on on other players properties and fork out cash. Best thing you can do is put 4 individual houses on all your properties and do not upgrade to hotels that way you have a Monopoly on the houses and no one else can build or even upgraded to a hotel. 😂

There’s one other thing you neglected to mention about parole, and anybody who’s seen the film Heat might know what I’m talking about. If somebody finds out your a parolee, especially an employer, they’ll often take this as an excuse to treat you like something they stepped in, lest they rat to your parole officer if you even lift a finger in protest of the treatment. This can even extend as far as illegal activities like forcing you to work overtime without pay.

I don't judge people on parole or probation. I've been friends with a few people on probation... They turned out to be pretty cool. Just because someone has made bad decisions doesn't make them a bad person. Chronic or violent offenders? That's a different story but in my experience first time offenders are usually just people who made a poor choice or two.

When I saw the Board of Pardons & got my parole granted followed by immediate release, "immediate release" didn't mean I got to leave that day. I waited an additional 4 months for the paperwork to get file, plus your parole officer comes & visits you first. some inmates are their longer 7-9 months, in some cases up to a year, because they haven't gotten a place to live or it hasn't gotten approve by their parole officer. I got lucky mine was only 4 months for my "Immediate Release".

They had just passed a new policy that denied people transitional funding if you had over $350 on your books in the past 12 months. He had to sit in prison an extra six months while saving money working at a job that paid him 30 cents an hour to pay for his first month at the halfway house. This was in idaho.

Parole is there to supervise the offender. Probation is there to violate you and charge you with a new made up crime. I had 2 years of probation back in 08. I had a well paying job, a very decent apartment, and was starting a life with my girlfriend. I passed every drug test with flying colors and passed every surprise home inspection. I was almost violated for working on a police car due to being in the auto body field. "That's police contact!" Well the head of probation for the state got involved and had the charges dropped and gave me administrative discharge. I never even had any contact with the officer. Just turned the wrench on his car. Now keep in mind I was on probation for a drinking offense, not robbery or injuring anyone.

I've been wondering lately what would happen if a parolee was only pretending to be remorseful and they are smart enough to wait until their parole period is over to taunt people over the fact that they lied and they can't be sent back to prison because their parole is over. Has anyone ever used this loophole?

As someone who served time in prison one of the things that surprised me was how much of the population that saw the reason they were in prison as being someone else’s fault. Probably over 90% of the people I talked to while in prison didn’t think they had anything to do with being there. They wouldn’t accept responsibility for their actions. It was always the cop that arrested them or the person that ratted them out that was to blame. It had nothing to do with them choosing to break the law. At least not in their eyes. It also blew my mind at how many guys would get locked down or put in solitary for doing something against the rules and then getting caught but then wondering why the C.O.’s were always out to get them. They didn’t seem to understand that if you don’t break the rules then you don’t have to deal with getting reprimanded. Another thing that I noticed was that a high number of inmates were left handed. All my life growing up I only knew or even saw a handful of left handed people. In prison I couldn’t believe how many were left handed. I don’t know if there’s any statistics or research on that but it seems like an awful lot of criminals are left handed. It was just something that I noticed and couldn’t believe.

I got probation and just got off of it yesterday. If I couldn't stand that, I won't be able to handle parole.

Ironically, I got my security job through an ex-con. Not gonna go into details, but he and I met as contractors, and he mentioned tha a loca security company was hiring and I ended up getting on as an armed security officer.
