Pile 1 hit the nail. Quite possible that he felt defeated at the end of our "journey". We first met each other in a professional environment and there was a spark right away. He felt very familiar to me and maybe it was the same for him. But the problem was his behavior towards me. He was in a suprerior position and he didn't treat me very fair at the beginning. He didn't keep his promises and I had to work for a department we didn't agree on before. There was much stuff like that, arrogant quite cyncical behavior, very immature in my opinion. Over the time it got better with him, we found a more emotional access to each other more than just "attraction". And I even I didn't feel the same attraction at the beginning, to me it was more friendship, familiarity and this is why I always wondered about his strange and somehow aggressive behavior. Hot and cold behavior is the right description. I had my own professional goals which I couldn't accomplish within this professional relationship. However, we worked very well together later on and were quite compatible in many things and had the same view on things most times. It is quite sad, that it ended like this and I really miss him even after several months. But I had to go anyway. I began to catch feelings for him after a while and in my opinion it was the same for him. But he is already in another committed relationship and he is treating her like his employee quite distant. Definitely not the "big love", but some affection and this has been enough for him for many years. He is more the rational type, who choses matters over emotions and he is also very ambitious in his life. Complex character. However I felt trapped emotionally and considering my career and this is the reason why I had to go. He instead was very cautious when he discovered that there was something going on between us not to cause rumor. And at the end, when I left he was very emotional anyway. His commitment to his wife and his personal choices in life just didn't match my own values and me life situation. He got more emotional over the time and I can't say in which direction he is heading now, but in my opinion he was at a crossroad in his life - everything played out well for him on the surface, while his emotions got surpressed. So, I didn't want to cause even more stress to him and me and I just left.
