56:23 I think the other two entities Sarah is referring to here are the entities of Fishing with Knives II (FWKII) and Twenty Summer Days (TSD). Remember, this version of Capture The Flag was created by fusing the game with a shard that came from FWKII and TSD's fusion. At 57:54, Sarah says "If it was up to him, the whole map would be under water by now." and later she says "He's [The other one] hard to talk to." I think this is talking about FWKII's entity, as not only would the water have come from him since... y'know, but he's also hard to reason with, much like his in-universe developer. I'd also like to suggest that the narrator for most of this section might be TSD's entity, as the narrator does seem to be an actual entity with Sarah responding to "'Why here?', the player wonders." at 57:47.

I'd love to see a full playthrough of this game once it's released. I agree with you SHB, these old-style computer game-within-a-game stories are fascinating. Right alongside games like Poppy Playtime. The jump-scares and horror elements are fine, but it's the story that keeps me coming back.

the minefriend game works just like minesweeper: the numbers tell you how many mines are located in the neighboring fields. it's actually quite easy once you know what you're doing :)

So, when I was a kid, my dad was online checking his (AOL) email, (You've got mail) and a phone call came through it would kick him offline and holy shit the anger I would hear. So, we would unplug the phone. Later on, they allowed you to buy 2 phone lines, but that was the max phone lines that could go residential in our area (also it was expensive). When we first got internet that wasn't tied to the phone line it was like a new world had opened up. We had internet not tied to the phone in like 2004. Everything before that was dial-up. We had speeds of 1U / 1D typically though 1U / .5D was the reality. When we got 10 / 5 it was world changing. Now I have 2G~U / 2G~D and I just watch KZfaq and do WebDev lmao. I pay like $120 USD for 2G / 2G, which is insane to think about.

Seen this played by some other gamers but I'm super happy Mike played it, I find that he gets into everything and explains things so much better, so I can just take in and understand the story so much better. Which for me is awesome because I focus so badly on life in general, ADHD and ASD can really get in the way somedays.

It's always interesting watching shb play a game involving mystery and investigation and watch him dodge half the clues and instructions the game gives. The speed-running the exploration parts is funny too.

Reminds me of Hopbound But lol it’s extremely inaccurate in terms of language used in the 90s and the type of desktop icons used don’t give off 90s vibes but still a really cool game! I know I'm a little late to the party, but I don't think Sarah died. I think John did. The game company is closed for bereavement, so it's someone who died that everyone in the company knew. the player did not know John's password at the beginning, you had to find it through the guest account. I think you are playing as Sarah, and John is trapped. if we assume that Sarah was the ill/injured one, it does not make sense for her to be the one walking the dog/doing a grocery run, but it makes sense for Jon to. I think we are watching Sarah, after losing her husband, trying to figure out what was so gorram important on the computer that kept them apart. I think the name of the program that mixes games together, brought at least a bit of John's soul into the game, and a bit of the game into the real world. They do mention that John "seems like a new person" every now and then, and does things in different ways. perhaps at the end of the day, some of the main theme may include the idea that people put a bit of their soul into their art, an in the case of John, who drowned while taking his dog for a walk, that bit of soul in his work is all that's left.

I like the original no players online more than this version because it was an arg where you had to look into your actual game files and had to install also another game from the same creator and other things which was way more immersive and felt way more real from the creep factor. This new version with the simulated pc within the game somehow destroys the feeling for me also the 3d graphics of the game somehow dont look as creepy for ma as in the original. I can understand the decision why they remade it and did it like this with a game within a game to reach the more mainstream audience who are not that into putting the work to uncover the mystery over multiple programms but for me the feeling is just not the same :/ , but still its a good game and im interessted at how they go with the story in this.
