DUDE!!!!!! YOU'VE TAUGHT ME SOOOO MUCH! I'm about to start the process of working on my 40 Plymouth 4 door interior (headliner, door panels, seats etc etc) and you made it look soooo easy, even thought I know it's going to be a lot of work but now it's not so daunting! THANK YOU!!! Truly enjoyed watching your videos. New subscriber here too.

Hey Jay. Good video. I have to redo my 40 Buick complete interior. I have to find a rear seat. The one that came with the car is just springs and half of them are broken. I don't really need an original seat, just one that will fill the void. It will be fun when I get around to it. You are doing a great job on your car. Keep up the great videos and stay safe. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍

I have a 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster and have done much of the restoration and repair by watching your videos. Kudos to your devine guidance. thoroughness and attention to detail. Was wondering approx. yds of material needed to do the front bench along with split back seats and the rear bench seats bottom and top. The seats have been previously done with minor shoulder tears and good padding frame and coils. Thinking of going over the existing fabric and padding. How many approx. yards material needed. Thankyou

I ordered 8 yds of the stripe material and had plenty left over because I used the solid gray for the seat backs. So I would say 8 yds total of whatever combination you choose to do.

Great videos. We r trying to restore a chopped top 46 my dad has worked on for 40 years. What would you do if the rear arm rest pieces were all rotted out? Can’t find any to replace them. Working on cutting all the inside trims for the chop. Thanks.

If one of yours can be used as a pattern I would use it to build a new set out of wood and hardboard. To achieve the bottom curved portion a guy could also use sheet steel or aluminum.

Was wondering if you made the pattern for the frunt and back seats? Or if you know how I could get some? I have a 47 fleetmaster sport coupe.

For this project I used the existing covers as the patterns. Do a quick search for how to make seat patterns and you should come up with a lot of results. Thanks for watching.

Look for an old singer 111w153, 111w154 or 111w155 as they can be found at a very reasonable price. I've picked them up from $25 to $200. What Jayhawker did in the video you could get by with just about any household machine (light material).

I use a cheap Walmart Sewing machine to do all the seats on my Pontoon boat. I use a heavy marine vinyl and it came out awesome. Just don't buy cheap needles.

You can do it with a household machine but it’s night and day with an old singer walking foot machine especially when adding piping. @@AndysDogHouse

I am wondering if you have found woodwool instead of cotton bat in car seats of this brand or era?
@TheJayhawker
@TheJayhawker Жыл бұрын
I'm going to have to look up woodwool, I don't even know what that is; is it sort of like what they called excelsior? I've heard of rockwool used for insulation. Anyway, all that I have ever come across on the cars I work on is cotton batting.
@jdschooley6808
@jdschooley6808 Жыл бұрын
@@TheJayhawker Yes it is called both. There was a lot of it used for upholstery and especially during the war when cotton was going to the war effort. I saw a seat to a Chevy pickup that had woodwool stuffing on ebay, but I was trying to find a late model car with it and had wondered if the Chevy car had it too? It becomes an element in my novel and I like to write with no suppositions in the plot. Thanks for getting back to me, your work is great btw.
