We spent 2 days in Thekkady. Though it was raining heavily, most of the activities in Periyar Tiger Reserve were closed. But we had great time enjoying the feel of Jungle in the resort we stayed next to Periyar Tiger Reserve. And a spectacular experience of bathing with elephants.

Theykeddi is also my fav place in kerla 👌 Periyar jungle is awesome. Stayed in Periyar house lots of monkey's were there in hotel and deer also. U should had covered Martial art show in theykaddy. kerla tour Dec 2014. ✌️❤️ From Mumbai. ✌️

I wish the weather hadn't played spoil sport and you had managed to go on that 4 hour boat safari in the lake . The forests around it are pristine and the lake itself picture perfect with the dead tree trunks sticking out of the water adding to the spectacle .

Unlike horses, which were domesticated and developed a physiology for being ridden on the back, elephants are not meant for riding. Research has proven that riding an elephant causes pain and discomfort but they don't complain because their spirit is broken. This is just FYI - what you do with this information is up to you as a responsible traveler. 🐘
