That's a sweet old Kabar. My Dad had one like that when I was a kid in the 1950s. I sliced the tip off of my index finger with it while whittling a little thin stick and still have the scar to remind me of it some 70 years later.

I seldom read directions … thanks for reading the glue direction’s to me ( seriously) … I knew about some of outside wood glue dampening… but didn’t know that with the gorilla glue superglue… I wonder if that’s true with other superglue? It seems like I learned something new almost every time I watch your show.!! My old buddy that I used to work with , his grandmother that he often quoted: ‘ two knuckleheads are better than one’… and I guess that’s why my grandfather used to tell me that listening was the most important part of a conversation. Those grandparents and the seeds they plant? I guess it’s a lesson to all of us grandparents.. I try to talk to my grand kids - spend time with em. (I feel like they moved 200 miles an hour and I’m just barely moving at 15 miles an hour.) Last time my seven-year-old granddaughter visited for a few days she had a list! A rather long list, of things she wanted to do… I need a couple days after her visit to rest lol. You have encouraged me to work with some folders Kevin … I had brought some kitchen and hunting blades back to life in the past… but just didn’t get enthusiastic about touching some old folders knives sleeping in a box that needed attention… it’s been a good feeling using those old ‘friends’. Thanks.

I have one of those KABAR folding hunters also. The blades were beat up a little from bad sharpening. I have a friend clean it up for me. He was contracted out to do repairs for a couple different knife companies. I sent 2 other folder hunters to him, Schrade models. He made me some Frankenstein knives. New handles and USA blades from other brands.

I picked up one of these KaBar folding hunters with Delrin stag scales months back. I’m pretty convinced Queen Cutlery actually made most of those for KABAR’ Union cut. Queen made quite a few contract knives for others. Camillus’ and Utica did also. Nice resto👍

Great job Doc. Shines like new money inside and out. I just picked up an Old Timer of the same style and size, but the secondary blade is a saw that does not have a nail nick, but the tip hangs out past the bolster so you can open it. Gotta clean it up and give it a couple licks on the stone.

Man that is a nice Kabar folder, never seen one like that. I found a lock back Kabar in an antique store that was from the 80s not usa made though, made in Hong Kong. It has a black handle with mirror polished blade and bolsters. It looks really good. It was new in the box with the original Kabar collectors club paperwork in it. Have you watched the Kabar story on you tube. It's a great documentary.

Good job Kev you need to grind them pins down flush like the back i have the same knife. Don't worry about the pins coming out when ground flush because the factory bores the wholes out so they are slightly cone shape so when you peen the pins it alows them to expand and not come loose.
@theknifedoctor
