I have a strong theory for this game. Embry is suffering with depression. I’m assuming it’s due to whatever happened with their parents. The basement is Embry’s mind, and in order to keep the mind calm, Embry has to feed their “mind” so they don’t corrupt Embry with more memories of the past and cause more hallucinations. I think the doctor was the antidepressant for Embry. However, Embry is afraid to reach out because with all of Embry’s experiences of letting people help them, they “fall down” into this hole that shows the truth behind Embry and what really happened in all. My theory is basically explaining how everything is representing Embry’s mindset. In order for someone to genuinely cope with something, they have to keep the situation satisfied, right? That is why Embry reassures themselves so much, in order to stay sane. Embry doesn’t want to be remembered as the monster during whatever incident occurred for their parents to be taken away. However, the mind becomes aggressive, and Embry gives up. Embry, at the end of the game, goes into the basement. Embry allows the mind to consume them, or, “eat” them, which is what Embry feared this entire time. Sorry for such a long theory, lol. If you read it all, I appreciate you!

I don't think the parents were ever really a problem. I agree with whoever said that this seems like a metaphore for depression where Embry literally feeds their own psychosis and it makes them feel better because they think it's helping them as they have made that a comfy space for themself almost like self medicating. They literally feed the other version of themself but eventually the emotions take over and whatever sanity they had left gets destroyed.

I don't know how Jay is able to immerse us in the story but I literally forget he does the voices all alone

I actually really want to see more full gameplays of these under the radar games. The ambiguity and suspense of the endings always get to me.

The developers of this game (and others in the same universe) have such a distinct style that's both cute yet creepy. Highly recommend that Jay play other games in this series.

I played this game a year ago and honestly I was legit shook when I got the ending. I tried to get any other secret ending if there exists one but I failed. Glad to see Jay play this now.

I love at how 31:04 when the door is open, you can see the eyes in the portrait in the room is looking at the open door instead of looking straight the last times. Poor Doc though, he just wanted to help, and I loved his design and character T^T

Okay so here’s my theory I think that Embry was most likely involve with what happened to her parents and now she feels guilty about it and had fallen into a depressive state. The basement must represent her mind and the clone of herself must represent her thoughts. That’s why she locked it, so she doesn’t have to deal with her thoughts in her mind and the doctor was most likely trying to help her with her depression so he wanted her to open up to him. That’s why she killed him because she didn’t want to open up to anyone and didn’t want anyone to know what she was going through or anything in that sort. She most likely calls herself a monster because of what happened to her parents and what happened to the doctor as well.

The amount of crazy humor, Oscar worthy voice acting and plot twists we got in this video alone, made my day 100 times better! Jay is truly the goat for these playthroughs!♡

Oh my god i cannot express how happy i am that you played this! I love the developers games so much and give me so much joy, Jay is also THAT DUDE! (I would also love to see you play CrowScare a game made by the same developer that didn't get to popular, but is also really fun, cool and creepy!)

i think the purpose of this game is like many other short rpgs and the creator wants the players to make their own ending in their mind, we cant be certain what the monster that embry was dealing with, or if they were even dealing with a monster in the first place. but its a very well written game

(Theory) If you keep checking in with the toy box as you play through the game will it change the ending somehow? (Because embry found the key to the basement in the toy box and she even said that she had never put it in there before and that she had no memory of the event, plus the fact that you could see what I can only identify as “the monster” in the toy box when embry checked under her (proper pronoun being theyre) bed. Therefore I came to a conclusion/theory that if you keep checking in with the toy box you might find something new or even a secret ending of some sorts), (but again this is just a theory I came up with when watching the vid)

Tbh, I wish Jay would play more RPG games such as this one. It's genuinely a vibe.

I belive Embry threw their parents down the stairs because they didn't want help because they state they heard screaming. Since the light is in the bottom of the stairs they probably never seen them fall to their death. This idea come from the nice doctor who act like their parents and the happiness lost when their parents died. So their dad died just like the doctor. This also explain the odd name and clothes the doctor wear. Especially Embry description of the doctor looking like a "clown". The father probably fall first and the mom run after him or the other way around. Embry feel like their parents death is their fault because of this.

Is no one gonna talk about how Embry looks like Nagito?- or do I just see him too much

I saw a comment saying that maybe this game is a metaphor of Embry going through depression and it got me thinking. I think the part where Embry was suprised to find the key on a toy box was a metaphor of how she didn't realise that her depression rooted/started from her childhood. My mind was translating "the key to the door was in a toy box" into "the key to her depression was in her childhood". Ehhh sorry if I'm wrong, I just thought of it😅

this game is amazing! But my theory is that they has schizophrenia, and the cause of there parents being gone has made it worst. The main reason i think this is cause she was hearing voices from her parents that weren’t actually them. And the doctor was there trying to help them with there schizophrenia by going into the basement and proving them its in there mind, but he ended up falling and the blood was probably from the impact of the stairs. But in there mind they thought the monster took ate him. thats just my theory
