I just ordered a Saroo everdrive to play lots of games . My Saturn was dead for almost 20 years. It's time to bring it to life

By the time i bought a sega Saturn, it came with a 3 pack of games, daytona USA, virtua cop, and virtua fighter 2. It was a great starter pack for my collection. In 2024, saturn games are expensive just as they were in 2000 with some games being several hundred dollars now. 🙂

Sega Saturn is my favorite retro console. It has lots of awesome pick up and play options in its library and the 2D graphics are a work of art.

This is a great list! All three Panzer Dragoon games, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, Sega Rally, Shiningforce 3, Dragon Force, Guardian Heroes! A personal favorite of mine is Magic Knight Rayearth. I know it isn't a great game, just a good one, but I love it and play it every Christmas holiday season.

I really wish Sega would make a Saturn mini!

I was a bit surprised not to see Resident Evil or Alien Trilogy I personally believe both versions are better than their PlayStation counterparts

Im shocked Death Tank Zwei isnt on here. Best theme song and the best 7 player action on any system. We used to gather for a night of 7 player DT every friday night at my friends. It was absolutely incredible. The weapon purchasing to build power, that could be overcome by everyone else ganging up on them. What a great game.

Great list! Certain games that I positioned as inferior to Panzer Dragoon made the very first places on the list, such as Virtua Fighter 2 and Nights Into Dreams. This is a proof that gaming is much all about the personal memories of how much a particular game has impacted on you. And, so, that's why Panzer Dragoon is still a top favorite to me. I always wonder if the Saturn would not have failed in the West if the games developed for it were actually coded properly to utilize all the chips in the Saturn. Most games that were on both consoles were essentially designed for a single chip which is fine for the Playstation with it's single chip, but literally maimed the Saturn performance and thus most games reviewed were "the Saturn port is less, slower, etc." Really a shame because the Saturn could have been really successful here like it was in Japan if only the majority of games took full advantage of the seriously powerful hardware at the time. There were some exceptions but the norm was a slightly lesser version which is a shame.

I came here expecting to see at LEAST (1) Amazing game get a mention: Panzer Dragoon Zwei. I was not disappointed. It's a 10/10 Saturn game that nicely represents the console's merit and Greatness.

My personal list would be very different. Nr. 1 would easily be Shining Force 3. The other 19 in random order would include: Daytona USA, Nights, Panzer Dragoon, Command & Conquer, Fighters Megamix, Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Culdcept, Galactic Attack, Radiant Silvergun, Sega Rally, Dark Savior, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead, Virtua Fighter 2, Resident Evil, Deep Fear, Sega Worldwide Soccer '97, Destruction Derby, Die Hard Trilogy.

I really feel like i have to buy Die Hard Arcade despite it being £80 looks like one of the best games on the saturn from what I've seen and own.

I went with the PS 1 and while I don't regret it there's no denying the Saturn was the better machine. A lot of what wound up being my ps1 faves were on the saturn and dare I say it, slightly better.

This console has a lot to offer, it's a shame Sega made so many mistakes at the time and prevented it from being successful. I hope I will be able to play some of these games some day. The Saturn is expensive and I don't collect disc-based consoles, and on top of that I hear the emulation isn't great yet

A great list for those wondering what the Saturn has to offer... Even tough i will not call it the best, since some game are really missing : Story of Thor 2 (/Legend of Oasis), Bulk Slash, Exhumed (/PowerSlave), Virtual On, Athlete King (/Decathlete) and (maybe) Deep Fear. Also because some game should be really higher, such as Burning Rangers (at last top 5) and Dragon Force, who is the best game ever (non-negotiable ;). And finaly because Sonic R should always be here when you speak about the Saturn, his musics and graphics are too good to be ignored :p... Yoh, who also need to put in Astra Superstars, Keio 2 and Dragon Master Silk for obvious fanatisme reason.

One thing I like to factor in when I am ranking games is- How unique of a gaming experience does the game give present day? If you remove stuff like nostalgia and the impact it had on the gaming industry at the time, a game like sega rally just doesn't hold up. Why, because its been done and done better many times over as of 2024. Its a racing game. Not really a unique gaming experience. Give me Wreckfest over that game any day of the week. On the other hand, a game like Panzer Dragoon Saga is an incredibly unique gaming experience that has not been duplicated in the 26 years since its release . There really isn't anything out there quite like it for it to have been replaced by a better version of the same game. Considering this ONE factor, I wouldn't have games like Sega Rally or Virtual Fighter 2 anywhere near the top of my personal sega saturn rankings. (Not saying they're bad games)

I think Dark Savior is better than Nights, Nights looks nice but the game is too simple and not long at all. Also Power Slave(Exhumed) is the best FPS on the system.

Haha. These games are terrible. It's why I don't even bother dragging and dropping them on my emulator devices. The games you're showcasing are really bad. Who would spend actual time playing these today? I would play maybe 10 minutes of tekken 3 every once in a while, but virtual fighter on the saturn? Haha. No. No, no, no. Panzer dragoon? No. I mean good lord no.
