This was great and I'm sorry I didn't catch it live. Tough choice, but as a vintage racing guy myself I had to go with the 510. Every other category on my voting sheet went to the R34 though, so there's that. After much thought I'd like to suggest a classic match-up of the '55 Gasser vs. the '32 Ford. Plenty of examples of each and extremely difficult to pick a favorite.

Always wanted a 510, had a 2002 spec V setra red 6 speed 2.5 liter at the time smoked gt mustangs alot of fun!

I'm still hoping to find that BRE Datsun 510 2-pack from Hot Wheels since I never found the Vintage Racing version (and I was looking for it back in 2011). As for the RLC model, well, I'm glad I have the MiJo chrome exclusive of the Greenlight version of the #46 BRE 510 (which also came in a 2-pack) since it only cost a tiny fraction of the secondary market price of the Hot Wheels RLC and shines in a very similar way to the Hot Wheels RLC (plus I have a shiny blue roof version from the same 2-pack as well). I got the first Hot Wheels premium Fast and Furious version of the R34 in silver and I'm really glad that Mattel put the blue version in the final wave of premium Fast and Furious since I missed the blue version the first time it was released in premium in Retro Entertainment. I'd love to get the white version and it goes without saying the convention and RLC versions but it's a pipedream since they're all far too expensive for me. If you're looking for future matchup ideas, here's the first one that came to mind for me: Greenwood Corvette vs. '69 COPO Corvette (the hardtop version, not the open-top racer), both of which got iconic releases in Hot Wheels Racing 2012 Road Racers, however I know neither casting has nearly as many releases as the 510 Bluebird (only two retail premiums plus one more exclusive premium release for each) so perhaps it's not the kind of matchup you're looking for.

I like both. Maybe the 510 more as it was my first real car. But a Datsun 1600 here in Australia.

I don't have a single R34.. =( I saw TWO of them (basics), different colors on the pegs at a grocery store and I have no clue why I didn't buy them.. I NEVER saw them again. I LOVE the R34. =(

I just wouldn't be capable of choosing between these. Would be like trying to ask if I preferred the Lamborghini Miura or Huracan LP610-4. I see both the R34 or the 510 saloon as completely incomparable cars, both works of art from the Land of The Rising Sun. The ultimate Godzilla is without an equal in its classification and the Bluebird can only be compared to the brilliant Ford Escort Mk1, both of whom are also popular now. Very collectable here in the UK (the Escort RS, 510 and R34), so you pay a substantial amount to get even basic models on ebay.

Datsun 510. Always the underdog, but always the winner! And the fact that there is one in my Garage, totally has a lot to do with it! It is a car we grew up with and was, at one point, easy to get and fix up! Yes, Skylines are becoming more prevalent, but you can not beat a nice Datsun 510, in any of its models!

Upon opening this video I was almost certain, like 99.9% sure Datsun 510 would take this contest, however, I had kinda forgotten just how good the hotwheels R34, especially the premium models were, clean, realistic and and such a great casting, R34 takes it for me, surprisingly.

I really enjoy this concept for a video and great 2 picks to start it off. R34 would be my personal winner here and favorite overall version would be the RLC Purple. Any thoughts on having fans vote on these categories similar to lamely awards? Or you prefer this to be your personal opinion is the winner?

i beg to differ on yellow r34 convention vs bre spectaflamce rlc. in the last 3 yrs, the price of BRE seems to be stucked while yellow skyline keep climbing up. The only good thing on bre is its spectaflame color, while r34 has openable hood and better wheels. I might be wrong,but i think the price of bre might have peaked. Who knows , in the next few years that yellow skyline probably going to surpass bre

I do not agree, what the r34 lacks in numbers, it makes up for with quality and detail and the datsun has many but not details, always always with tampos, for me the r34 is better 😉

I like the R34 more but the 510 has a more important legacy to Hot Wheels.

This is a fun concept for a video! Personally I would say the r34 would be my favorite in the last category although, as a whole, the 510 is my favorite. The only category I disagree on would be supers as I think the r34 stands out more with the olive paint. Either way it's all very subjective. I'd love to see the drag bus vs kool kombi one day.

You call the R34 clean, I call it boring. very few releases have any front details. the 510 was released as a race car. you cant make too many designs that make it look stock. if the R34 didn't have fast & furious lineage then I think it would be off the radar of most of the hot wheels collectors. The skyline is more iconic from its motor which doesn't translate well to 1:64 cant wait to see your next match up but this one was a slam dunk 510 winner from my point of view
