Natural Selection 2 takes place after the events of Subnautica. The alien life forms that are featured in NS2 were created by an advanced form of the Kharaa bacterium from Subnautica. That same plushie can also be found on some of the maps of NS2. Altera had definitely encountered alien life forms before the Aurora crashed, but the precursors are likely the first civilisation they encountered.

There is another easter egg which can be found in the void. In a certain location, it plays a sound similiar to the Bloop, but also sounds a bit like a owl.. you can find the vid by searching subnautica bloop easter egg

There's a theory that natural selection hasn't happened yet the plushie is a non kharaa gorge. And some of my on speculation: all the aliens in natural selection were useful to Altara such as the gorge being something like a pet something a company would make plushies of

Don’t forget about JackSepticEye guys! You can build a placeable decoration item known as ‘Jack’s Septic Tank’. It’s very much like the Markiplier Doll, except it can’t be found in other life pods, you find blueprints for it like the seaglide, the cyclops, and the seamoth (I think). It’s logged in the pda blueprint log.

Another Easter egg is that the doomsday device came from Futurama. The sea treaders are like the the striders from half life 2. Also the cave crawlers are just like the head crabs from half life.

Is the Reginald also a reference? That's a pretty random name for a fish.

So i was playing around in creative when at one point i came out of the water and saw fire on the water so naturally I investigated it. turns out it was a jelly shroom planted in the middle of it on fire. This was no where near the jellyshroom biome because it was on the surface of the water. Anyone know what this is?

Here's another Easter Egg: When you first craft a hunting knife, the PDA says: "Weapons were removed from lifepod fabricators following the massacre on Obraxis Prime. The Survival Knife remains the only exception." Obraxis, I'm not sure, but I think it's the username of one of the developers at Unknown Worlds.

This isn’t really a Easter egg but there is a audio transmission and the voices are guys from a channel called neebs gaming

I have known somewhere in another YT video that at some points of the DEAD ZONE (VOID), there comes a very mysterious sound of a very large creature, it sounds so large that even sea dragon and emperor are nothing to that, but it's not sure I think as it was probably a specific early access version based only, later I think the developers removed that. Also, if there are so many ghost Leviathan in the void (same as the fishes and small creatures in the shallows and other biomes), there must be some very big creature(s) as compared to the ghost Leviathans (as reapers, ghost Leviathans even in other biomes)... That's my personal theory only BTW!!

did you ever notice that the Delta Airlines and Alterra logos are almost the same? I have a theory that Alterra is just a very advanced Delta Airlines but it's most likely not canon at all
