My Cabin now has some lovely new shelves, courtesy of Ants Country Life! We spent a happy day where he did all the work and I got under his feet. This is the pattern that quite often happens when Ant works for me! Anyway, enjoy watching as we create this latest addition to my lovely Cabin.
Don't forget to pop on the notifications for these videos because the next one will be the Green Roof and I am really looking forward to filming that one!

Oh Kate. When you places the vase of flowers on the barely finished shelf I laughed so hard. When my husband and I did remodeling etc in the past, he would no more move the ladder from finishing a wall, and I would come in with a hammer, nail and hang a piece of art! He always just shook his head. Your shelves and lowered table are perfect!

The cabin looks amazing! How far you have come with the cabin in just a few short/long months! I love the flowers, they look like they are felted? Is that so? I really like the shelves and I think your lower table is much better height for you. I am really impressed with how many skills Ants has and how he makes all his jobs seem so easy, but I know they are a lot harder to do than he makes them appear. He does have a very kind and pleasant personality. He does seem to enjoy what he does, and I thoroughly enjoy watching both you and Ant work together. My suggestion about curtains for the cabin...I don't think I would make the curtains very heavy...maybe some type of lightweight or see-through fabric because I think you will still want to be able to see your beautiful view. I think the view is what makes your cabin seem so peaceful.

@margaretbedwell3211 do they have mosquitoes in UK? I know some places don't have them. I was just curious as the pond right next to the cabin would be a wonderful breeding zone for mosquitoes. Hopefully it would be a mosquito free area.

I am so happy because everything is coming out so beautifully in this cozy cabin space for you to create your lovely things for the family. I have already chosen my place upon the quilt there on the bed against the wall. All of us will move our things from the Lime Green Couch to the Cozy Cabin to be with you. Blessings, Kate.

Log cabin quilt pattern on the wall below the window!! Too dang cute!! A couple of artists involved )))) The cabin doesn't need curtains. There is no traffic of strangers outside the windows, only beauty of nature.

Gosh. I missed this episode. Only just found it after watching the roof one. How lovely to have shelves. The first thing that went on a new shelf I put up was one of the cats! He couldn't wait to explore it. I bet Ant's right and you end up with loads of things on yours. Thanks for sharing - it's such fun to watch.

Lovely video. Perhaps you ought to consider a "quilt ladder" or a quilt shelf above the cot in the corner for all the quilts you are making for the cabin. Perhaps instead of a curtain which blocks much of the view and your natural light, you might consider just a valance above the windows - perhaps a curtain made of tiny squares in shades of lighter browns and creams. Ant is truly a gem...a true craftsman - you are so fortunate to have him. I have been enjoying his channel also. Thank you for sharing.

It was a bit of a shock to hear Kate mention curtains for the cabin, as glaring sunlight doesn’t appear to be an issue and the window views are so lovely. I think if one were to have a bit of a lie-down, however, it would be nice to be able to draw the curtains to dim the room and afford one a bit of privacy. It will be interesting to see what she decides in the way of window dressing, because so far the cabin is quite unlike the house. I look forward to a pleasant surprise!

Using a fabric of “Hopsacking” aka “Burlap” for curtains. It’s rustic but I think somewhat charming. I have used the burlap bags that once upon a time used to contain coffee beans. There’s a name of the beans or the storage house that housed the deliciously aromatic burlap bags of coffee beans. I made a 12inch valance with minimal gathers to slightly soften the appearance of the curtain. I wish I had a photo to show you just how charming the valance was. I grew up in a log cabin. When we married we did the entire exterior of our house was done with red cedar planks . It was beautiful!

Your cabin is fabulous. Why not think about putting a Roman blind instead Of curtains, you could still patchwork them. Just an idea. Absolutely love it and would love to come and have a visit with one of your workshops. I live in Whitley Bay so not too far away and absolutely love crafts and the outdoors. Just love your goose LOL and your gander LOL😊

I'm so jealous! I have a very small home in the US. So part of my quilting equipment is in my upstairs office, and some is in the basement. I'm trying to talk my husband into getting me a little garden shed and putting everything in one space. We'd have to add heat/cooling as the weather in Michigan is so volatile (90 degrees F one day, and 34F the next!)

Lowering the table is actually more important than it seems. Ergonomically doing any kind of sewing on a higher surface is going to bring back tennis elbow and awful forearm cramps. It’s beautiful Kate. Thank you Ant! I don’t have an Ant in my life so I’ll have to become one. My husband sings like an angel but he’s DIY poison. 😂
