This is the second in a video series sponsored by Volt lighting. In this one I run 12 gauge wire to the back yard to light up some areca palms. I show in detail the struggles I went through with my inexperience stripping wire and using wire but connectors and a hub for 4 lights at the very back.
Part 1:
• How To Install Landsca...
I relied on Volt customer service to ensure that I got the right size wire and transformers. They also helped me pick out the fixtures that would best work for my landscape. The key is for you to draw a map of your property beforehand so you can give them some basic idea of what you are trying to accomplish. Here is everything I used in this video:

Thank you for the slow and detailed video on wire connections!! You da man Alan! Now I feel capable of doing it myself. 👍🏼💪🏼 A detailed video on setting up the transformer would help too

Absolutely gorgeous landscape lighting setup. Great video, Bro. Your home looks beautiful with the Christmas lights as well as these landscape lights. I LOVE my Volt Landscape Lighting, especially around my areca palms. Volt definitely isn’t stingy when it comes to extra wire. I’m thinking I might need to upgrade mine to include colored lights. Merry Christmas

Alan you did a great job and it looks fantastic. Just a tip I bought a automatic wire stripper, all you do is slide in wire and pull the trigger. It works great . Merry Christmas to all

Run the main line in pvc to a sprinkler box and make the connections at that point to go out to the lights

Love that you're putting out more variety in videos. I've been wondering if I should get someone professional to do my lighting or if I could just do it myself.

you can 100% do it yourself - it's actually a lot of fun to plan it all out and then see it come to reality when it lights up.

You can make most spices last indefinitely or at least a lot longer with a blob of dielectric grease inside before closing them up.

There is some grease inside those wire nuts- I assumed it was for water proofing.

in part one you connected to transformer. in Part 2 did you just daisy chain part ones "main" connection with part twos main connection, then into transformer?
@Thelawncarenut
@Thelawncarenut 8 ай бұрын
hey Ron - thanks for the question. So at 16:44 you can see me hooking the main into the transformer. I know I was not super clear on that. In the first video I ran a 12 gauge main that was for those 3 lights. In this video I ran another 12 gauge main that supplies all the lights shown in this video. So 2 separate mains. One for each "zone". hope that helps!

Alan, did you have to install the transformer as well? And if ao, does that connect to a ciruit board?

I did install the transformers and they just plug into an outlet- it's that easy.

Spin the strippers around the wire for an easier cut.
