For more on the LBJ-Connally connection, see Jack McFile's 1967 conversation between LBJ and Connally about 'rumors' from Jim Garrison's investigation (for some reason Google has disabled comments). It shows that LBJ was keenly following events in New Orleans (he mentions David Ferrie twice) but it's also interesting from Connally's assertion that Castro sent four hit squads into the US after Kennedy violated his pledge not to invade Cuba, as reprisals against Us hit squads sent into Cuba to kill Castro, but caught and tortured to reveal all they knew. Again according to Connally, President Kennedy didn't give the order to kill Castro, it came from some other person close to the President ( "They did not name ... but the inference was very clear...the inference was that it was his brother")
