0:58 This just might be something I noticed because I am a superfan of Josh and Dave and have practically seen every bts video on the internet involving them, but if you ever watch the behind the scenes video of the making of Songs for the Deaf, that little fill Dave does at 0:58 is the same one he does when checking his level in the studio for the recording of that record as well.

its a bit complicated to explain but really easy to do, it is a triplet but he made it while playing a rythm... starts with the foot, is a double stroke, after that he plays a single right hand in the floor tom and ends with the left hand on snare, so it would be like this: K, K, R, L right after that is another kick drum with a right hit on the hi hats at the same time... K, K, R, L, K/R... i hope you understand it, cheers

He's played on every Tenacious D album, Songs For the Deaf by QOTSA and his Probot album and the song 'Watch This' off Slash's first solo album. Most likely done more though.

@tomclick It's music, and it's personal. If you don't like it or it doesn't fit your apparently "high end" standard then there's plenty of other stuff you can listen to. This music moves a lot of people, and just because you're not of them it doesn't mean these guys are not creative. It's such a ridiculous statement to make about musicians like Homme, Grohl and Johannes.

I mean for the ladies.... anyways at least you've got great music taste ;) But to answer your original question I think Dave was just jamming. I don't think that drum beat is from any of their songs. However it does kind of sound like scumbag blues towards the end. But that's just me.
