I am fortunate to have them all in my 175 Bottle collection that started about 40 years ago. I was glad to see OF 1920 on the list. You saved the best for last. I only pay normal retail for bourbon. I have several bottles that were purchased only about 7 years ago for under $40.00 that are now impossible to find such as Rock Hill Farms and Elmer T. Lee. There is no reason to chase allocated bourbons when there are so many good bourbons under $60.00 that are on the shelf everyday. Great List!

Old Forester single barrel, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and Rare Breed, George Remus, Russell’s Reserve single barrel and 10 year, Knob Creek small batch, Makers 46, Four Roses single barrel, Woodford double Oak.

I know its been a while , but …Was wandering if any bottles over the years in your collection , does the bourbon change at all over the years . I mean would a nice bourbon save for 10 yrs . Say at 1/3 a bottle left ?

@@m.ramsey6396 The bourbon will definitely change over time depending on how much air is in the bottle, how long it has been, the temperature it is stored at and how good a seal you have. If you have a bottle that is 2/3 full and is only a year old it is probably like new. A 1/3 full bottle a few years old is much different than when it was first opened. If you have a small amount of a bourbon that you want to keep intact, put it in a smaller bottle.

I started drinking bourbon 6 years ago at a bar called Husk in Charleston, SC. Asked for a bourbon for a person who wanted to like it but was struggling to get over the harshness. Bartender served me Basil Hayden in a special glass with this huge ice ball. Next day, he introduced me to Woodford's and 3rd day Blanton's. Thanks to your channel, my collection has grown. I think I tend to love anything from Buffalo Trace or Heaven Hill right off the bat but working on branching out

Basil Hayden is the gateway to bourbon and you gotta appreciate it for what it is. It’s like your first love, you appreciate them for the memories but probably never wanna go back once you’ve moved on from it!

I recently started learning and collecting whiskey and I am excited to see that I have all these bottles except the Remus, Maker 46 and 4 roses high rye. Makes me feel good about my journey so far. Also, I learned that I really like a sweet wheated bourbon, such as Weller. Which means maker 46 here I come! Thanks again for the great video and content. This is fantastic. Not only are picks really solid choices, but loved the consideration of the history and stories behind each of these selections. Love the list, I just started collecting bourbon about 8months ago and have been watching your channel and a few others (bourbon junkies, ADHD whiskey and The deathless dogs) for tips on what to buy and I am happy to say I have every bottle in this list except the George Remus, I haven't been able to find that but I'm still looking! Loved this video and everything you put out, please keep them coming :)

Nice list! Woodford Reserve Double Oaked started me on my journey only back in October of 2020, but I feel lucky enough to have 7 of those exact bourbons you've listed. Of the other 3, I have 2 on my shelf, but not those exact selections. Thanks for list, Jason. Cheers!

Excellent list! Lots of great bourbons in there. I’m still new to bourbons and am learning new things every day. Gathering good bourbons to share, you want them all, right now! Haha! As a friend told me, “it’s a marathon, not a sprint”. I stumbled across Eagle Rare at a Target near me just yesterday. Guy was opening the box as I rounded the corner to the liquor aisle. Cheers!

Really enjoyed the list and a little history lesson. Seeing I’m a scotch guy that has recently been bitten by the bourbon bug, I have 3 of those bottles. I’m a bit surprised not to see 1792, Evan Williams, Old Grandad BiB, or Henry McHenna.

Glad you mentioned Wild Turkey 101. I used to be a night watchman at a Power Plant and when it got freezing cold out at night, 101 was the juice that kept me warm. Blanket in a bottle. I can still purchase a liter for around $20 bucks . Good stuff and thanks for the video.

Just watched this and I am glad I did. In Memphis and just picked up Eagle, Taylor, Weller SR, and Blantons. Going to go back to my store this week and get the Four Roses OBSV which is a store pick at my store! Awesome. Thank you for this great video as i cannot get most of these back home in Northern Virginia.

Honestly the perfect list. A little something from each of the big distilleries and you gave newbies something to chase with the BT products. Once they find that first bottle of ER, EHT, or Blanton’s they will be hooked on the hunt. Other honorable mentions for me would be Russel’s Reserve and Jefferson’s Ocean Age at Sea (talk about a conversation starter).

I started Bourbon hunting 3 months ago. So far I have a buffalo trace store pick, a trails end 8 year, eagle rare, Breckenridge reserve blend, and an EH Taylor small batch. So excited to see what I hunt next

After years of just Makers Mark, I started sampling other bourbons about 6 months. I have everyone of those in my collection except the OF 1920. I do have some OF Rye though. Great video!!

Definitely a solid start. The Remus is the only one I haven’t gotten to try yet. At $47, Blantons is a damn good pour. At the current going price of $80+, it’s robbery with 1920 readily available for $60. The knob creek is also very slept on. I’ve had the good fortune to do a barrel pick with knob creek abs even have the barrel select box of uncut samples. A great 12-15 kc sbs for $60 at 120 proof is a steal imo. One of my all time favorite bottles at that price point.

A great selection of bourbon! I've seen a number of videos about "7 bourbons" that use what I think are silly categories. I like your selection criteria much better. Some variety in style or flavor profiles (high rye, weated, double oaked) and some historical variety (Old Forester 1920, George Remus). 👍

Btw you completely got me hooked on wild turkey 101.For years(and I mean like 5 years) I just for some reason refused to even try it. After watching couple of your videos I finally tried and ABSOLUTELY LOVED and it is my new daily drinker. Absolutely delicious and for 30$ 1.75 l bottle. You can't beat the value.

Now this is a great video. Competent and informative. I'm by no means a regular bourbon drinker let alone a collector. I buy almost exclusively scotch single malt whisky but I always keep a bottle or two of bourbon to have my pallate refreshed. I don't aim for those expensive, hard to get, premium bottles therefore your list comes as the most wellcome recomendation. 7 of the bottles in the list are more or less readily available on our market and are reasonably priced so I think I'm good for a while😀 Currently I'm making my way down a bottle of Wild Turkey 101😀 Great value😀 Next bourbon purchase will be either Eagle Rare or Four Roses Single Barrel plus Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Looking for a descent rye also but haven't made my mind which one to get yet. Cheers.

I loved watching this because I have a list of “10 Bourbons to start with” that I made to share with friends getting into bourbon. I got my list as I watched and 7 of them were exactly the same. It’s great your $400 list had exactly 10. The three that were different were: you had Makers 46, EH Taylor SB (still hard to find in N Texas), and G Remus (I have a full proof GR that I love). My three that were different that I had were: WT Rare Breed (nothing wrong with 2 Turkey’s), 1792 Small Batch, and Regular Buffalo Trace. Great list for people starting to learn about bourbon. I tell them to subscribe to your channel too and they will pick up a lot. Cheers 🥃

Friggin' nailed it. I was waiting the entire video for 1920 and half expected the "surprise" bottle to be Blanton's. Nice foreshadowing on your part. A lot of us still don't have access to Remus though, so I might put something like JD single barrel or 1792 SmB/BiB in its place.
