Breukelen is a village with 10,600 inhabitants in the province of Utrecht and a train station on the Amsterdam - Arnhem railway line. The station was opened in 1843 and the railway line to Woerden was added in 1869. As part of the four-track expansion of the railway line between Amsterdam and Utrecht, the station was completely rebuilt. The station building was demolished and the station got its island platform. The junction in the direction of Woerden was converted into a crossing-free structure by building a bridge for the tracks in the direction of Utrecht. There has been a turning track north of the station since 2008, which is used by the sprinters on line 7300 in 2023.
