She doesn't get enough credit for the quality of her voice. She was actually excellent, both in studio and live. Very pure tones. There's a clip of her doing a cover of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" that really shows her voice's quality off well.

Think this first time I seen anything live by them. Have to be honest, I think this band carried her in this performance. Not great vocals so sensing she was not great live but the guys in the band seem like they can at least play live.

What I just found out only weeks ago from one random comment on KZfaq is that the dress, designed by her designer friend Stephen Sprouse, was meant to be worn with the backside in the front but Debbie being the punk that she was flipped it and wore it backwards. I never knew this and always thought how she wore it was how it was designed.

This was after Eat to the Beat came out. She wore that unitard for every appearance the record company made them do. They finally gave her something new to wear for Dick Clark’s Rock’n New Years Eve a few months later. I remember that very distinctly; my family and I were on holiday in NYC from Sweden. That night was my introduction to Blondie, and I wanted to be Debbie Harry. She left a major impression on my 10yo self. So much so, I attended university in NYC eight years later. I never met her, but I never expected to. It’s only a happy childhood memory.

I remember dancing to Heart of Glass at the disco. Great fun. What was Blondie? Disco? New Wave? Rock? A very versatile band and genre. I still don’t know after 40 years since when they came out in the late 70s of listening to Blondie how you classify them. “Dreams” - very few songs compare to the energy and how much fun it was to be there rolling into the 80s when it came out.

Debbie Harry was very creative in making her political comment about curtailing the Nuclear Arms Race between the USA and USSR during the Song ! ! The song is ranked as the #1 song in 1980 by Blondie and many critics call it the Ultimate Disco song ( along with " Dancing Queen "by ABBA ) ..Just 4 months later, the " Miracle on Ice " occurred at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , NY when the American College Hockey Athletes defeated the heavily favored USSR Elite Hockey team ! Debbie Harry and her band Blondie recorded the iconic "Dreaming " tune a few months later at a Sound Stage in NYC. She was wearing the same Royal Blue tank top ! " Dreaming " is my favorite Blondie Tune ! Please check it out on KZfaq ! It is like a " Wall of Sound " video that was inspired by Phil Spector!

I love all of Blondie’s albums, but there was always something that seemed so off about Debbie as a performer… She always seemed like she’d rather be anywhere else, doing anything else, but singing. Maybe it was shyness or maybe it was the fact that she was 31 when their first album came out (at least 5 years older than anyone else in the band), but she always had this look on her face like she was being held at gunpoint to get her out on stage. But what the hell do I know..
