As part of the Joint Light Helicopter program, Airbus Helicopters is developing the H 160M Guepard, a new medium-lift helicopter, for the French Armed Forces.
The French Army, Navy, and Air Force plan to deploy the helicopter for a variety of tasks such as anti-surface warfare, fire support, air intercept, and commando insertion.
While the full-size model of the H 160M Guepard rotorcraft was on display during the Paris Air Show 2019, a scale model of the H160M was on display at the October 2018 Euronaval exhibition.
The H 160M, a military variant of the H 160 medium-lift utility helicopter, made its debut in March 2015 at the Heli-Expo exhibition in Orlando, Florida, United States. The H160M, unlike other models of rotorcraft in its class, will guarantee easier maintenance and lower operating costs because it is based on a civil platform.
The three-armed forces will get a total of 169 helicopters as part of the initiative. Eighty helicopters will be given to the French Army, and forty rotorcraft will be given to the Navy and Air Force.
