The problem is that the Kiev junta, with the help of neo-Nazis, has terrorized Ukraine in the past eight years. Thousands of citizens were killed, not only in Donbas, but on the territory of the entire Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainians have left Ukraine in the past eight years, and not just for economic, but for political reasons.

After the war this will become one of the most popular cities in Europe. I've been there a year ago, shortly for work, but it has the same feel as the French cities (Toulon, Bordeaux, Marseille etc) from 50 or 60 years ago. Its very special, without the constant marketing barrage of a western European city. Very, very nice. Same goes for Lviv btw.

Long time ago, my dads ancestors landed at Odessa, out of the sea there. They were fishermen, lived there a long time. Then, for some reason, they moved north to an area near a lake not far from Kyiv. My cousin visited who was left about 25 years ago . Farmers, good salt of the earth types with animals near the house.
