@@TheMissFlips I'm with you on this one. I didn't see you slapping paint on anything. Now to my point: there is so much furniture in folks' houses that, like clothing, there're enough pieces to do anything you want to do with it. Many kids and teens like painted furniture because they have decor things going on. And some furniture is so damaged that it can only be reused if it's covered in paint. And all furniture isn't for residences. They're used in stores, businesses, lobbies and a variety of places that can benefit from color. Like upholstered furniture isn't all the same color or fabric. You keep doin' you, boo.

Just depends on the piece and wood grain. It seems to me each piece is a blank canvas and each person will see something different. I’m just starting with this and I have an old storage bench with heart cutouts in the sides. It used to have cows painted on the lid and a heavy dark finish. I stripped and sanded it and I’m using a charcoal or black finish that shows the grain and a light finish for the lid and insides of the hearts. I didn’t want to cover the grain but still wanted a somewhat modern look. I think it’s the best of both 😊

Nice flip. You are doing a great job. I have been doing the same thing since the late 1990s. I have learned a lot through my mistakes, UTube tutorials and common sense. My brother and brother in law are carpenters and boy I have learned so much from them, especially when I have to do repairs. A few tips: The large cleaning towel you are using should be smaller to give you more control. I suggest you have a bucket of hot water to rinse your rag more often. I have always used DAWN dishwashing liquid (great degreaser) in my bucket of hot water to start the cleaning process and then clean hot water to give the piece a good final wipe down. Do this before you sand and after you sand. Turn your piece upside down or lay it down to clean the bottom really well. Of course open all doors and clean the insides really well also. One of my pet peeves is the hardware. If you are going to paint hardware, (door hinges), paint the whole thing inside and out, not just what can be seen from outside. I love how quirky you are and I enjoy watching you. You have a new subscriber.

Marissa help please. I just re-sanded my 1st piece back to bare wood in some places, top is bare bcs of brush strokes. My piece is older & had a rough finish. I don't think I (hand) scuff sanded well enough, used a very cheap brush for the primer and poor light. After my 2nd paint coat, there were horribly deep brush strokes. I've some questions, please. Do rollers leave less and shallower marks than a brush? What's the best technique to reduce any marks? Do I need to re-prime? I'm painting it black & don't think its a bleeder. I used a primer for smell & to help smooth the surface. The paint is a trim & cabinet paint, supposedly self leveling. I used a Wooster palm synthetic brush. Help please... The drawer's top finish is in tack w/ reddish brown stain, needs minor repairs. I'm using decopauge w/dark background on them. Should I just scuff sand them to remove their top finish, then paint w/o primer? Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all you do. 😊💜

@@TheMissFlips I watched your video 3 times so far :) and have the following questions that I would be thankful if you can help me with them... - For the very beginning cleaning step, do you recommend any cleaner/degreaser? - How long should we typically wait for the glue to dry? - How to choose sandpaper grit for regular sanding, sanding for the wash effect, and smooth out after painting? -How to take the dust off if we do not have a vacuum? - What is the gloss step you mentioned in 17.27? - How to choose between a satin finish and a gloss finish? Thanks!
@TheMissFlips
@TheMissFlips 11 ай бұрын
@@mjar3799 for cleaning I just use vinegar and water. For the glue, it’s different for every kind, but typically it should say the recommended wait time on the bottle. Typically, any grit below 120 is to remove finish or paint. You want to finish sanding on 200 or 220 grit. After painting, I typically like to use 1000 grit or just a paper bag and just gently rub a piece of the bag on the dry paint. To remove the dust, you can use a tack cloth from Home Depot or a lint free cloth with mineral spirits. The gloss that I was talking about is the type of finish or top coat. So for this piece, I went with a satan finish, which is more of a matted finish, whereas a gloss finish is just that, glossy. Meaning it’s more shiny and reflective. When choosing a finish, it all really comes down to personal preference. But I prefer to use a Satin finish when painting and a glass finish on bare wood. Hope this helps!!
