Roberto Duran was one of the greatest boxers to ever live. His fierce battles vs the other 4 Kings of Boxing, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas The Hitman Hearns and Marvelous Marvin Hagler, are some of the best boxing bouts ever captured on film. Duran was like 5 great boxers, all with different styles, put into one. And that's why great fighters like Mike Tyson and many modern day martial artist idolize and emulate him. Here's just a few of his skills.

Imma add another name to the list, just cause he's interesting. You should do a vid on Ernesto Marcel. He lost to an 18 year old Duran at 22y/o but he was about the smoothest featherweight I've seen and one of the most underrated champs in the sport. Beautiful footwork.

A lot of people label Duran as a brawler/intimidator while that is true. That title is a major disservice to duran because in his prime he had one of the highest boxing IQs ever. There is a valid argument for him being the greatest all around boxer of all time. He was immensely skilled, had a heart of a lion, and was a savage who could smell blood.

I've said in the past that I've never seen any other boxer switch as smoothly and efficiently from defense to offense as Duran, and I will stand by those words. I've never seen anyone go from genius defensive master making every punch miss to vicious, unhinged offense the way he does.

I watched the Duran movie and they say Duran likes watching cartoons cause he was always workinh as a kid and didn't have time to have fun so in some way, Duran watching cartoons satisfies his inner child. Anecdote I read in a local newspaper a few years back. In Scotland Jim Watt and Ken Buchanan had both been lightweight world champion and had fought each other on their way up with Buchanan winning. They were not friends and found themselves at the same charity dinner. Buchanan, who had fought and lost to Duran, came over to Watts table whilst a bit tippsy and Watt was ignoring him in the hope that he would go away. At one point Buchanan asked Watt why he never fought Duran at which point Watt finally looked and replied "because I'm not f****** insane." RIP Ken. Re Duran, a born fighter, I think that like Mike Tyson people who do not know boxing see him as a gutsy brawler rather than the expertly skilled technician he was.

The highest boxing IQ a human being can possibly achieve. I hate when people keep forgetting about him and focus only on Ali or Tyson. While I love these two, Duran will always remain my personal no.1 ever. EVER. P4P. I've seen some SRR fights, but experts usually say that prime Sugar Ray Robinson was never recorded. Even the fights past his prime are enough to notice his amazing skills and top speed, but style makes fight. All depends on what style you love to watch . I remember when I've seen Duran vs Buchanan and vs. Barkley fights on KZfaq within a few days and I bet that after watching these two masterpieces you will easily notice how amazingly Duran aged. I had the impression that I watched two completely different fighters. Having so many bouts in the past and moving up across so many weight classes made him only better, mature, efficient fighter and his ring IQ was only higher and higher until the body let him do so. He was perfectly adjusting his style to each opponent he fought. Master of defensive skills, efficient and beautiful footwork without wasting energy on skipping and running, great counter-puncher if needed, physically strong enough to move back and forth bigger and stronger, younger guys even though he was a king of lightweight division, gifted with such a terrifying punching power in both fists, granite chin, he was always capable to know at least the next one or two steps his opponents will do, so he didn't even bother to put too much energy into the fights with bigger, faster and stronger fellows, especially when he knew he was much more experienced. My hero. Period.

What a legend. Seriously watching him go in and out like a master tactician. He really had a very unique boxing style and really was like a game of chess to him and he was a world class expert at it. Hands of Stone indeed

This channel is the most complete on martial arts that I have seen on the platform. Could you look into Mike Zambidis' style and fights?

I'm watching this and thinking: "Finito's ghost jab would fit perfectly with Duran's technique to step foward in the oponent's chest". That's because the secret of Ricardo López's (Finito) Ghost Jab is the step foward that he does to amplify the damage potential of the punch. So, I think it would be a good ideia to start with Finito's ghost jab and use it's momentum to get to the oponent's chest like Duran used to do (and then use his beautiful hooks and uppercuts style, if the Jab landed correctly the oponent will be at least a little dizzy, making it easier to land him knockout hooks and uppercuts).
