Finally I received the 2023 Starboard boards and in this video I'm showing you how I setup the 2 different models I got:
- Hyper 78 liters ( down - the - line wave board )
- Ultra 82 liters ( all - round wave board )
Each board has different features and advantages which I'm explaining and also showing to you with action clips, where you can see the difference in conditions, style and type of riding.
For any specific questions please leave a comment and I will be happy to help you out!

We need more comparisons like this! I think you balance the sponsorship and educative value very nicely in this video. 🤙

Super! Tons of useful tips. To be watched over and over again. happy to discover that you explain the same things I have always thought about thruster and quad set up differences. Many thanks

I love most of your video's for the vibe and positivity they bring. Of course it's great that Starboard sponsors you and I understand there is some degree of product promotion in your video's. It seems only last week that you received your new Starboard Ultrakodes, (in Chili?), time flies. So now you have again new boards, both of them a different shape than their predecessors. You mention one of them was developed by Antoine Martin. It makes me wonder, is there enough continuity in the board design at Starboard (shape and construction)? I actually couldn't tell who 'the' shaper is at Starboard, it seems there is a different one every couple of seasons. I don't think it is a good idea to have production boards shaped by top professional wave-sailors. Shaping is a different profession than sailing and the needs and skills of someone like you or Antoine Martin are hardly comparable to those of the average consumer that buys a Starboard wave-board. Is there a shaper in the background with a steady hand that prevents a zig-zag of ideas every 2 years? And keeps the usability for the normal consumer as a top-prio in the design/construction decisions? How different are these new boards to your previous boards? If someone sailed a 2021 Ultrakode of a friend (or a rental), liked it, decides to buy the Ultra (assuming it is the direct successor of the Ultrakode), will he recognize the board he chose? Or is it in fact something very different?

Hey Ron thanks for your message and interesting point of view! You brought up some good questions. Sincerely sometimes I also struggle believing that Pro riders and amateur sailors can use the same exact boards; but actually I have to admit that in a lot of cases this is possible and happens. Mostly because of the many different models available, each one for a specific condition and each measure for different types of sailors. Overall when developing a board, making something great for the end consumer is always the top goal, because if the board isn't good and people doesn't buy it, it takes nothing for the company to get out of business. Both riders and shapers are also aware of that. That's also why I make these types of videos because I know that it isn't easy to choose the right board, to know what you're looking for and where to find it!

Regarding your last concern; of course there's always continuity in a model. If you had and liked the UltraKode 2021 and decide to buy the Ultra 2022 I have a good news for you; you're gonna be even more stoked! Haha Because the board has the same features but improved in certain aspects. For example I both had the Ultrakode 82 liters 2022 and Ultra 82l 2023; besides both boards having great stability and early planning, the 2023 was even better because it turned better, feeling more agile and at the same time permitting more critical turns thanks to the new nose 👌 I hope this was useful 😁🤙

Nice and interesting overview although I don’t sail on Starboard. Thanks for the work you’ve put in. May I ask, what’s your weight and what is the biggest sail size you use on either of these two boards?

Thank you, I appreciate the positive feedback! I would love to make you try one of my boards! I weigh 73 kg and the S-1 5.2 is the biggest sail I use on both boards, and it actually feels great!

Great videos 🤙 Love the vibe and the information you share! I have a (late) question: the hyper 2024 models are now coming out, and I see that the Hyper now has a 103 liter model. I have a 104 liter thruster as my go to onshore board for lighter days. Would you recommend the 103 or 93 Hyper for windy down the line conditions? 4.2/4.7 sail size. I'm a heavy sailor at 95kg. The board will only be used in down the line wave sailing. Maybe occasionally a 5.0 sail. Keep it up 😊🤙

Hey thanks a lot for the cool message!🙌🤙 Yes, I think thats a great idea! I'm 73kg and I just got a 2024 Hyper 88 liters, I've never used such a big board but it's working great. So I would say that a 103 liters for you could be great! I'm not sure if I would go 93 liters, because the board is radical and designed to let you use a size bigger than usual!👌💯 Hope this was useful! Find me on Instagram to connect and communicate better 🤙

There is never jump on your vidéo. Can you make a vidéo full power jump....

Hi Seb, I would love to. It's hard to go jumping here in Chile because conditions often are firing for waveriding and I really love those side-off conditions; so it feels weird to go chase side-onshore jumping to me. But I'm sure I will go for it soon and share it with you 🤙
