I am a Latter-day Saints married to a unbeliever. Life has been extremely challenging. My husband has bipolar which is untreated and he's a alcoholic. I am mentally and physically drained. I pray that heavenly will help my kids and I through it all.

God's love is not conditional. However, our ability to feel His love is conditional. Sin prevents us from being able to feel God's love. Repentance enables us to feel God's love. We do not cause God to change, or God's feelings for us to change, by our actions or thoughts or desires. Through repentance, we change our ability to perceive God's love, which never changes.

I think I remember this talk!! It is so wonderful!!! This brother from the 70s just brought tears to my eyes, as he may have done before!! I am a convert to the church when I was 45 and I am now 74!! I joined the church up in Alaska!! I had tried going to many churches and trying other religions… Even becoming a Nishirin Shoshu Buddhist from modern day Japan… I did transcendental meditation and went to a Hare Krishna temple, and have even some very good Sikh friends!!! And have gone to a Gurdwhara with them… went to Jehovah’s Witness meetings a bit & studied with them, as I was studying with missionaries from the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in Alaska!! and you can figure out the rest here!! Also was raised some in Episcopal church, also attending Catholic & Methodist churches some, besides Church of God, etc., etc. Had an Israeli boyfriend years ago & he wanted me to marry him & convert to Judaism!! And go live in Tel Aviv… but I was in college age and woman then, and thought and knew I could not deny the Christ!! Even though I wasn’t sure about my beliefs, flip-flopping between atheist and agnostic!! But I knew that it would be wrong to say that I didn’t believe in Jesus Christ!! But I used to think back then that I could go to the Father without going through his son, Jesus Christ! I sure feel and know differently now! Thank you so very much for recording and posting this wonderful video!! ❤✋🤟😇🙏

All of our weaknesses can eventually become our strengths. When we choose to follow Christ, our souls will undergo a magnificent metamorphosis! This reminds me of a physically limited caterpillar, which move at a snail's pace, compared to a butterfly, which can travel 3,000 miles to get to their destination! We can change, no matter what our circumstances are, through the enabling Grace of Jesus Christ, which we access through faith and repentance!

I'm praying for all of you. Getting close to the truth is inevitable, when you seek the scriptures. Even moroni wanted to give up when his people overthrown by those tyrannis gadianton robbers. I'm not perfect by any means but I'll pray for all of you... Please don't give into the temptations of our world. Some people really need you. Please read the scriptures even when you're feint. May the lord rest upon you. 💗💗

I will add….”Let no man be your teacher or leader, except he be a man of God, walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments.” They don’t have to be perfect, but they have to always try to live the commandments, so they can be in tune with the Holy Spirit to teach and lead right.

I appreciate Elder Hamilton's comment near the end of this talk, where he says that sometimes it may feel that we are taking two steps forward and one step back, because progress doesn't occur in a straight line. As we work to overcome our weaknesses and truly change, we're gonna have ups and downs-we aren't going to be instantly rid of all our bad habits on our first try, or even on our second or third. But that doesn't mean that we're not still making progress, and it doesn't mean that we should just give up! We can change, and God will be right there with us, if we keep working and trying our best.

I testify that Jesus’ love for us IS unconditional! It’s 100% unconditionally! Also, the scripture doesn’t say that. It says “If ye love me, keep my commandments” it does NOT say we have to qualify for His love! The Savior I know, is full of love! He loves us not because we are good but because HE is good! Always remember his love is unconditional. You don’t have to be perfect. This can breed shame and shame is so damaging!

Yes, and that always makes me mad 😡 when someone needs to change, but people say, “Oh, they’ll never change.” That’s just the way they are. So I ask them, “Why are we here on earth? To stay the same? Carnal? The natural man? Or even sensual and devilish? That is what the scriptures say we are….unless we put off the natural man, and become the a saint, taking the Holy Spirit as our guide, like a child submits to his father….humble and teachable. Weak things can become strong. I sure do not want to be any of those negative qualities….so I choose to be like a child, and hopefully be as good as I was as a child. That’s hard with all of the opposition now days, but the Holy Spirit will help us to be that way. We are not perfect, we need to grow, but we grow best when we humble ourselves and listen to and follow Jesus, and our teachers and leaders who also follow him. We are warned in the scriptures, “Let no man be your teacher, unless he be a man of God, walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments.” I think I got the words right.

The baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost is how we become new creatures, experience the might change, receive a remission of our sins, fully take upon us the name of Christ, become the children of Christ, and become sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost (John 3:3-5; Math 3:11; Luke 3:16; 2 Nephi 31:13-17; 3 Nephi 11:35; 12:1-2; Morm. 7:10 D&C 20:41; 33:11; 39:6; 3 Nephi 27:19-21). Why wasn't this mentioned in the talk? Without this great event, it will be impossible to make the kinds of changes in ourselves that we need to become a truly changed individual. We cannot do it on our own just by trying really hard day by day until one day we are really good.

Brother I am going to have to disagree with a point. Gods love for us is not dependent on us to repent. It’s not dependent on anything. His love is eternal and never ending. I would say our ability to feels gods love is dependent on us repenting. The statement keep the commandments and abide in gods love is not a limit on god or a condition. Its about us changing to be able to feel his love greater and more full.

I agree, I think the wording could be refined to make it clearer that we distance ourselves from God's love when we refuse to repent, but God's love is constant and infinite.

This is a wonderful talk and very inspiring. However, the statement that even God’s love is conditional is NOT True! While blessings are conditional, God’s love is not. His love is unconditional, unchanging and eternal! No matter what we do, God love us still. He loves it when we keep His commandments and serve one another. But, saying that God’s love is conditional is deeply offensive and totally wrong! I only hope that you can retract this error.

What he means is that in order to receive and feel the full effect and benefit of God’s love for us is conditional. While God will always love us, we can’t ,as he read in the scripture he quoted, abide in God’s love unless we are making the effort to be there.
@alantomlinson5740
@alantomlinson5740 Жыл бұрын
He said, in effect, that the application of his love can be restricted by our unwillingness to qualify ourselves. The existence of God's love is unconditional, but accessing it requires us to ensure we construct no obstacles to it.
