@@TheNatashaDebbieShow , many Americans take British humour literally. I think it's common that Americans believe every joke has an element of truth or look for a deeper meaning because if we're calling them out it must be because there is some sort of ill will. When in reality, we just enjoy taking the piss out of each other.

Al Murray is brilliant, he’s so clever. At the beginning of his shows he talks to various different people in the audience and remembers all their names, occupations etc and goes back to them at different points in the show. When he asks if there are any people from overseas, he has no idea what country they are going to be from so that bit is more spontaneous. Hilarious 😂

"The thing about British humour, is that we will take the piss out of EVERYTHING" Bullshit. @Bookofwords
@Bookofwords 2 жыл бұрын
@@BoB-th8wm We do take the piss out of everything though. "hate crimes" and visits from the police is not even relevant. Theres a difference between humorously taking the piss out of something or someone...and a hate crime. It's one thing to laugh about...for instance... a Jews hat flying off in the wind and chasing after it...and saying Mr 1 ball was correct. The jokes that also centre around such things do tend to get police visits and will always just result in either a complete throw out or a fine. "freedom of speech" does not mean freedom of consequence. In America it is no different, if you joke about doing a school shooting, you're going to have police at your door pretty sharpish. if you joke about shooting up religious buildings, anything like that. jokes about bombings? police turn up... could go on.... Americans are also arrested for equally stupid things, like a lawyer 2 months ago was arrested for walking on a beach, dressed as Michael Myers and carrying a fake toy machette. tl;dr: hate crimes and comedy are not one in the same. Yes we do take the piss out of everything, and 99% of the time, no police would ever get involved in that. Also, on that, instead of commenting such silly crap like that, look at the numbers... since the law was put in place, 10,000 cases of hate speech has been prosecuted for it... out of 67.22 million people... that is not even 0.001% that you're basing your comment on.

@@TheNatashaDebbieShow it is “hard” for non Britons to understand WHYYY we laugh a ourselves without us feeling hard done by or inferior and we Mickey take our own failures and idiosyncrasies and actually find them hysterical! Our favourite comedic “characters” are the losers in life; those that never reach any level of competence - in fact most of our favourite comedy stalwarts ARE losers in life! Some you may or may not have heard of include the famous hotel owner Mr Basil Fawlty of Fawlty Towers (MY absolute favourite 😉) ; Mr Bean; Delboy Trotter, Only Fools and Horses; David Brent of the Office (UK version 😉) …. To name a few… we love them and laugh at them because they are US on the tellybox - we don’t laugh at high achievers or boring “successful” people…we find it funny at things we can relate to…and when Al Murray or Michael McIntyre or Peter Kay insults a member of the audience at a “live” show, even those being insulted or being poked for fun will laugh..at themselves! I saw this show live in Cheltenham and Bristol when he toured with it (neither were filmed). I found the signed program/brochure I picked up there, the other day. Both gigs had a common theme and the same key jokes and topics but the amount of unique ad-lib and improvised material based on the audience (their names, nationalities, careers, appearances) was mind blowing. None of the other comedians I’ve seen live came close to such sharp-witted, instantaneous riffing off the audience.

Al Murray has appeared as himself on a number of British panel shows - "QI"; "Mock The Week"; "Richard Osman's House Of Games"; "Taskmaster" - as well as "Top Gear" hosted "Al Murray's Great British Pub Quiz", and fronting numerous documentaries - but much of his live stand-up is as the Pub Landlord. He's even hosted shows in his Pub Landlord persona - "Compete For The Meat".

Hi ladies, it's 0700 here in the UK I put you both on and you've set me up with some laughter so thank you both for that. Al is funny and super clever. Happy anniversary month I hope you have a good time and if you don't post before,then Natasha have a great 'milestone' birthday 🎉🍾. Doing some American food would make a real change over here but it really depends on your audience,we see a lot of Americans try our food but not teach us about your own. Great review and take care ladies ✌️🇬🇧✌️🇺🇸🍻

Great video - we are ok with food in UK as we are not experiencing shortages, just dealing with Brexit issues that’s starting to get back to business as usual. This is Al Murray as the pub landlord and is always funny in this way of thinking and focus. Definitely watch more of his stuff as pub landlord. Also it would be nice for you to cook American dishes that the British may like - perhaps research what British like and cook these? I discovered you by accident on my news feed so I am glad to say that I have now subscribed!

It might surprise you to know that Al Murray is a highly educated Oxford historian, musician and writer. In the same way Brian May, CBE, PhD, FRAS - a founding member of Queen is a Doctor of Astrophysics, 3D stereoscopic photographic authority, campaigner for animal rights and a passionate advocate for political and social change. A lot of British humour is clever and not based on puns, irony and pathos is common, as is self-deprecation, try Billy Connolly (some of his earlier work he's been going decades), you'll recognise him because he's acted in films too.

@@TheNatashaDebbieShow You're welcome - and taking the time to reply on your 18th? So kind! But I am a king of UK comedy - if you want any recommendations let me know. From the 70's to present I have most things. Off the bat - check out James Acaster, Would I Lie To You? Cabbage. Should make you laugh. I saw him in Basingstoke a month ago on a lockdown rearranged show 'Landlord of Hope and Glory, one of his first after lockdown. He was immense. The first half of the show was all unscripted audience interaction, what a memory the fella has. Second half included lots of call backs to the first half and the audience. Ball bouncingly funny. Also, first time I've been to a comedy gig alone. I rather liked it.😊
