The Goal of a reference track is to get the gist of the song and flow, of course the final product will sound better, one’s not the final version
@Dizturb3dwun
@Dizturb3dwun Ай бұрын
the issue is he claims to be a rapper that writes his own music. Using reference tracks is WAY worse than having ghost writers. Cuz you don't even need to figure out your own lyrics, flow, beat, inflection, intent, portrayal. You just flip the rhymes at the end (and he doesnt even seem to do this much). This is literally Drake gettign called out for being a "Studio" rapper, not a real rapper. Also, the man lied to Lebron's face. What the fuck

@@itsdacjstop the CAP! I’m tired of people throwing this comment out without naming names and adding proof. Rappers are not R&B singers or pop stars. So don’t mention Beyoncé or Whitney or even MJ. Their selling point has always been their vocal ability. They could easily make an album of cover songs in the height of their career and sell millions. These rappers can’t sing. No one is paying a bunch of money to hear autotune Drake sing out covers of Beyoncé or Whitney songs. Kanye is a producer and like most producer/rappers, he had ghostwriters. It’s common. No one that is being idolized for their pen has reference tracks coming out in clusters every 3 years like Drake. Just cause that is how Drake does it doesn’t mean you can put that on everyone else. If the reference tracks existed, they would have leaked by now. It’s too many Drake Stan’s out there right now that are trying to cover for their boy. The internet is desperate for a Jay Z, Eminem, or Nas reference track where they literally copy bars. They want the same tracks for all the female MCs too like Nicki and Megan just to prove a point. Especially with the amount of animosity traded online. Stop the cap.

NO, rappers can't reach some pockets with chorus and hooks, it's what they need writers for, not for their rap verses. Be fr, rappers don't pen a lot of their choruses, even Royce said he doesn't care if an emcee, gets help with a hook or chorus, just not your verse.

@IceDizzy
@IceDizzy Ай бұрын
@@evansu007 he didn’t sauce up anything. The flows, cadences, and even most of the lyrics are literally another artist. And you can’t compare that to production which has almost always been collaborative vs Hip Hop where it’s always been an L to have writers. Which is why Drake even talks about it in a way that downplays how much help he’s getting and obviously uncomfortable when addressing it.

I’m a big Drake fan and have been for years. But hearing the amount of reference tracks he has used over the years is kindof crazy! Still amazing artist but it does tarnish his legacy a bit. This all reminds me of how when he was coming out, he went on to flex to do a “freestyle” but was literally reading off his blackberry phone while pretending to freestyle the song 😅 The delivery and flow is phenomenal but he is definitely not freestyling, so it’s corny, but it’s kind of hard at the same time. And then at the end he runs out of lines to keep rapping / or his phone battery ran out. Pretty much sums up what Drake is like, talented, great voice, kind of corny and gangster at the same time. If he wrote push ups / family matters he is still a beast rapper and one of the best, i wouldn’t say he should stop rapping

In fact, Megan has one of the most loyal fanbases because they face tons of opposition on all sides and they still show up. Megan is not the example you want. Furthermore, a national arena tour suggests that this assessment is off. They didn’t put all the tickets everywhere on sale. They put tickets on sale in specific markets that are not heavy on hip hop or maybe southern rappers.

Saying Drake's version sound better as a point to defend Drake is so dumb. A reference track is a first draft of a song. So if you have good writers, good producers and good engineers of course the second draft will usually sound better. That doesn't mean that the person who gave them the first draft doesn't deserve all the credit because they did the hardest part. Actually coming up with an amazing first draft for them to then work on instead of Drake coming up with a new song from scratch

This borderline is irritating, let’s make this clear, there’s a difference between referencing and plagiarism. Before anyone come @ me here’s what I’m wondering, why in college we learn the difference between referencing and plagiarism and get taught that it’s not acceptable, and in hip hop we are saying it’s ok here because it’s art, but if you were to make a copy of a painting and sell it as real And get found out you a con artist, bruh come on, there nothing wrong with ghost writers, what’s wrong is when you con people and plagrise work, and say you are the original it just makes you wonder, why would you hide that, you only hide stuff your insecure about period, so if your pen isn’t elite cool, you can’t have bars like I would have all your fans if i stayed on conscious ish, and your pen is not the one who saying that, Actors don’t go around saying I wrote those lines, they may improv and they say which lines were improv and I may be going to hard but I’m personally irritated with this because being a creator you put your everything into something, that’s like birthing a child and giving it to someone eles and they telling your child I birthed you, lol you be like mofo you ain’t birth nothing if you could birth so easily then why you tap me to do. I’m sick of these symatics, you either did it or not and if not that’s ok just own up to it, simple as that. 🤣
