Haven't been fishing near Malone yet. Only as far south as Chateaugay town but above the falls. Incredible waters and surreal fishing with brown, rainbow, and brook trout to be enticed. My Canuck side of the river is splendid as well but produces fewer brookies - more resident browns and fallfish. Although swift, it's not as high in elevation as NY for those cooler runs those wily char prefer. Great piece of nostalgia, TNFF. Solid tips & tactics that's always relevant!

fyi you zoomed in on isonychia nymph shucks not stoneflies. though there was one stonefly shuck almost out of the frame

Love this river! One of the few places in NY i've caught browns, brookies and rainbows in the same day

@@figfish21 On a river I grew up near and fished a lot on Long Island (of all places, lol), I would consider the day a failure if i didn't catch the trifecta also. However, because I knew the river so well, there were certain places in the river wher the various species of trout would reside. In fact, you would almost never catch a stray among the pack, it was as if each species had its own territory and none ventured in and none out.
