I use a split shot for the bottom weight in rocky lakes. That way if I snag up a light pull unhooks me and I keep my bait.

good catch. Ya I do the graphics and I live near Wadena and so I used a lake close to me that was similar. The guys did not want to publicly show / say what this lake name was as it is smaller and get lots of pressure. West Battle map was very similar to the lake over there in Northern Wisconsin.

@@ThenextbiteTvShow I forgot to say. You guys may not be able to do it because you are sponsored, but just in case... The industry is trying everything they can to force us to buy new lures and make us believe the old ones are not good anymore. Yes, they are coming with better lures over the years. It'd be very cool if you could make a video using good old classic lures only. Like the good old "original" Daredevil and the famous flatfish for example.
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 2 жыл бұрын
some of our shows focus on one lure explaining how to retrieve it and other tips to know about certain bait. Other shows it feels like we toss the whole tackle box out.. But I do get what you are saying. Some times a spoon is more effective than a crankbait. Each lake and time of year is different. Some lakes were you can have 3 line or 2 lines putting live bait on a rod laying right next to the boat can be more effective then casting search baits.

Split shot weights are a LOT cheaper and work. Get snagged ? The weight pops off. Just Pinch on another one.
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they do work too. Lots of times the line from 3 way swivel to drop shot weight is thin 4lb or 2lbs. For that same reason. Easy break and re-tie. I grew up river fishing and we used pencil lead weight from craft store and thin gas line with barrel swivel with the hook snap. The gas line would stretch and get you out of rocks. or just lose your little lead and just cut another and replace.

Depending on current speed your weight might drift down stream. I have fished behind current breaks using this technique with pretty good successes. Also going to want to watch out for snags in rocks as some river can have some big rocks.

How do you feel about the fireline ultra 8 in the 6 lb test. Have you ever used it? Do you think it would cast longer?
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 4 жыл бұрын
This line is super tough. I use it for all of my spinning applications because it casts a long distance, is easily managed, and is super strong. I prefer it over all others for spinning rod applications.

Question: where do the big girls go in the summer ?
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on the lake. Summer Walleyes can be all over the lake. Start first at weed edges or even right in the thick cabbage weeds for the big ambushing females. Then look for deep rock humps and deep points. Then last trying to find the suspended open water walleyes that are chasing bait fish. If your lakes got thick Cabbage try casting in there. Big muskie, pike and walleyes are are mixed in waiting to ambush pray.

what are five plastic baits for drop shoting
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 3 жыл бұрын
I would go with Gulp Minnow, Gulp Leech, and could try Gulp Shaky worm (wacky rigged) Those are top 3 that come to mind for walleyes. Each lake is different. Take Devils Lake, you might want to try a plastic shrimp as one of the main food sources is a type of fresh water shrimp. Bigger Cisco style bait might be better with deep lakes with lot of Cisco's. But for sure top 3 are minnow, leech, worm style baits.

@@ThenextbiteTvShow - why not use live bait? I've always wondered about that.
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 3 жыл бұрын
You could use live bait. Our minds are usually set in tournament mood. Most tournaments you can't use live bait and Gulp stays on your hook better for casting and when a small perch try's stealing your Live bait. It is mostly a preference things.

We are using the Trolling motor to anchor on the down wind side of humps. We each have one dead stick rod laying on side of boat with tight line using the waves to give the bait action. Then we are casting and ever slowly moving our drop shot weight. We may jog with trolling motor 10, 20 feet left or right depending on the size of hump.

Use a light baitcaster. WD40 the spool. Release the thumb bar and let the bait down slowly by thumbing the spool. By doing so, you will work the entire water column.... MUCH smoother than a spinning reel because you have a lot more control. TIP: if you run a tiller, use a left handed baitcaster. Cuz the handle will be on the easier side. Think about it... Isn't the handle of your spinning reel on the left ? Try switching it to the the right side. You'll quickly see how clumsy right handed reeling is, while running a tiller.

reason being is when you spend as much time in the sun and water as these guys do. You tend to get skin cancer. A lot of pro fisherman have had skin cancer and the mask really help so you don’t have laser scares on your face from removal. Or maybe he planning on robbing a steep bank of all of its fish.
