Great review! I'm currently using the Samsung Hw-k950 Dolby Atmos soundbar and I know it's limitations and problems. I've been looking for a new soundbar that would be able to play all available sound codecs and with this review with thorough research, I believe the LG SN11RG is the one that I'm looking for.

Thanks Alex 👌 Im currently using the JBL Bar 5.1 which comes with 2 wifi speakers which plugs directly into the soundbar. If you want the surround sound effect you can unplug the 2 speakers and place anywhere you want. It sounds amazing and at half the price of the lg sn11rg. Ill def look into the sn11rg if i upgrade next year. Thanks again 👍

Excellent video, I have considered buying this to go with my 65 LG C9. Its on in the UK for around £800, nearly half its launch price. However, reviews are really mixed, What Hifi magazine only rate it 2 stars, and some rate the Samsung 950T more Highley. I must try and audition one.

Great review. My only concern is the upward firing speakers since my living room ceiling is 20ft tall.

That won't be optimal however the sound will still rebound. Should work well if the ceiling is not on a slant.

That's not possible in Juneau Alaska; the store was in anchorage Best Buy. They shipped UPS...Don't know why LG- cannot do the same ??? LG- OWNS THE GARBAGE AND they can pay for shipment to somewhere USA. thanks for the concern; just to be clear my experience has made me quite irritated with customer service and their whole attitude on my location/situation !!

Unfortunately this soundbar is way more expensive than Samsung's Q950t where I live. Like twice the price. Also you state that this is the best you ever heard. Which have you checked out?

I screwed the rear into the stand using a single screw that is included with the stands.

If I put the speakers into surround mode the rear speakers have an output that is a bit weak (not very loud and not much bass). When in Atmos mode I very rarely hear anything from them and when I do it's mainly high frequency.... So what is the need for such big speakers... Or perhaps they are faulty?

Hi John, this may be an issue with the output type from the TV. Can you try ok putting the speakers into Movie mode and test how that sounds? This will force all speakers to be used.

Looking to pick up those speaker stands. But the fact that they have an 11 pound limit caught my eye. The LG speakers are 11.5 pounds. Did that extra half a pound not matter? It didn't feel like the stand was barely holding them on? These would really make set up easier

Can you share the link you are looking at? I dont recall noticing there was a gap in the weight supported. Nevertheless they hold the speakers with ease, they are sturdy as a rock.

I have a 55 lg oled tv and I got the lg sl10yg and it's the same size as the sn11rg just put your soundbar in the middle to me it doesn't look bad at all

How is the sound at higher volumes? I just bought the sn9yg and barely at vol26 It starts to Crack a little bit. Might take it back and pay for this if it doesn't voice Crack at a low vol setting

I have not run it any higher than level 20, and at that volume the entire building was shaking.. Audio clarity was as clean as ever

The SN11RG is much more powerful, you will be surprised how loud it is. Most people on the forums don't run it any higher than 15-20 as it gets uncomfortably loud and unenjoyqable

Hey Mate, I’m very keen to buy this Soundbar specially with Black Friday around the corner. I had a query though. Do you know if I connect the Soundbar to LG B8, would the tv pass Atmos over Arc if I play Atoms content through the inbuilt apps like Netflix and Disney? Only asking coz the B8 doesn’t have eArc and only has the older Arc. Would appreciate if you could please answer this. Cheers!

You will be able to get 7.1.4 Atmos over HDMI ARC, but for the highest quality lossless audio quality you will be wanting to hook up a device directly to the soundbar via HDMI, such as a set top box (eg Nvidia Shield TV) or blue ray player 👍

@@TheNextUpgrade thanks heaps for your response mate! Yea, I plan to plug in the consoles directly to the sound bar but also wanted to run the native tv apps and also get Atmos! My last purchase Samsung’s HW-K950 didn’t do it so really wanted to upgrade. Thanks again for your response.

@@SpectralWanderer keep in mind that the version of Atmos used in the streaming apps is a lossy version of Atmos/Dolby Digital but you will still get an immersive 7.1.4 surround experience 👍

The only HDMI 2.1 feature which is supported is eARC, but all the rest aren't

Trying to mount the rear speakers on the stand you suggested and I can't seem to figure out how. How did you do it? Or are they just resting on the speaker stands without any security?

There is a screw included which fits perfectly in the center hole on the bottom of the speaker. You can disregard any additional attachment included with the stand for rear mounting speakers 👍

It is a little tricky to mount but once done they are nice and secure.

If you're in no rush to upgrade then there is no harm in waiting. If you are looking to use next-gen consoles it would be worth considering getting a HDMI 2.1 ready TV

I haven't, but I based it off Dolby Atmos recommendations. See this excerpt from the website: All listener speakers should be at the same height, typically 3.9 feet (1.2 meters), which is ear level for the average seated listener (as defined in ITU-R BS. 1116-1). If possible, the height of the rear speakers should be the same as the height of the front speakers.

How is the mid-range? In particular, the knock on soundbars is that the dialogue is very soft when compared to the sound effects of action (explosions, car crashes, etc.) making for an uneven experience or alternatively having to use the subtitles. I'd be curious to know if this system addresses this. Thanks!

With dolby tracks it's not a problem as dolby surround upmixes and increases voice volume and other otherwise hard to hear sounds but DTS is still a problem even with the adjustable centre channel it'll depend on the soundtrack because some have been mixed with the voice far lower than the effect's etc so I have some that are perfect in DTS and others I'm riding the volume button or if too extreme a volume difference I resort to a headset I have the running man the 7.1 DTS version and the surround etc is amazing but the voices are far too low. But in general it's not an going problem as in the fault of the soundbar it's on a soundtrack by soundtrack basis but mostly good just the odd one that's not

This TV is 75" as stated in the vid - the bar sits on the TV stand itself

@@TheNextUpgrade I have a 65 "nanocell television, it has the same support or base, what worries me is to place the sound bar on top because it can be tilted downwards a little ... but in the video I see that it is straight.

Ah yes it will only slant slightly.. I fixed that by adding two small adhesive rubber pads on each side of the stand where the soundbar sits and it is now more or less horizontal.

Yes they attach to the bottom of the rear speaker with a single included screw

@@TheNextUpgrade I bought the soundbar and the stands you recommended and the only screw that fits the bottom of the speaker is a silver short screw, too short for screwing from the bottom of the stand into the speaker bottom. How did you screw it in?
