I don´t understand why most skate shoes didn´t protect their laces. No matter the brand, the grip tape will destroy it. I don't understand how people can skate with shoes that haven´t laced..

Just started skating again. I wore a couple different skate shoes and would have knee and hip pain....I got these and the pain is now gone!!!!! Firm believer in the tech now 100% buy!!!!

I know NB does the asymmetrical toe as a kick back to their heritage and the original idea was probably to protect the big toe. But on their skate shoes I wish they would switch sides, for added kickflip protection. And I wish more skate shoes these days would come with rubber lace loops or internal ones. Back in the day skate shoes came with extra laces. I wish they would go back to that. It's crazy that most skate shoes come with just one pair of laces but Jordans and fashion shoes come with multiple pairs. They ain't shredding laces like skaters.

Picked these up cus I really enjoyed the 1010s, not sure what ones I prefer yet but I’ve been loving the 808s so far, for some reason heel flips just feel like they work well, can really grab hold of the deck when flipping

The extended to bit on the toe box was used for tennis shoes.....to give a bit more wear protection when the players drag their toe when sliding for the ball.

I had a pair of Etnies screwface back in the day. I was stoked. I skated in them with my Think board. I think my board and shoes were stolen. I was bummed. Also, double knot your laces. ✌️

Great segment. Give S.C. A Show about Skate shoes. Revisit old ones too..... I.e. DVS k.Milton’s blk w the clear blue sole or the M.Carroll’s Vans. Maybe have him interview the pro to talk about their shoe be mad ill.... really good stuff guys...

For any shoe I skate, the lace on top is opposite of the shoe (right shoe has the left on top). For simply wearing, I keep the left on top with the left and vice versa. Boots? lace under instead of over for the first eyelet.

These shoes skate super well but go half a size up because I thought they hugged ur foot a bit to much av had a few pairs of these now and they do last quite long really fancy tryin the 1010 though

i want these as a chill shoe but i don't want them to take long to break in. I know the outsole is stiff and i'm used to vulcs but i can usually adapt pretty easily. I had a bad experience trying to break in the nyjah 2's a while back as a chill shoe. The rubber and lack of ventilation on that shoe made it so stiff and unbreathable and it actually sucked wearing them for the whole month or two that i wore them. Yeah the nyjah 2's had mesh but it wasn't enough for the humid summers in my experience. I still have those shoes so might try and just skate them soon. Also going back to the 808's, i wear more normal fitted jeans not baggy jeans, so i'm hoping if i get the shoes, it won't look awkward. The 808's don't even look that bulky i heard comparisons to the D3's lol.

They don’t look that bulky from the outside because obviously NB doesn’t want to push it too far in the retro direction but the shoe is constructed SO rigidly. In the first month it feels like you’re wearing a roller skate. But the sole is very comfy to walk in from the very start. Good memory foam on the inside. It’s just really hard to skate at first. You can accelerate the process though by throwing the shoes in the microwave or oven. Just heat them up till they’re toasty but not burning and then skate with them while they’re still hot. They will mold much better to your feet.

The rule of "higher number = more tech" only works for the Numeric line these days. The 1010 is the highest the Numerics go, but I don't think you can compare that to the running/lifestyle models like the 2002R. E.g. There is a 9060 as well, and the 990v6 is their premium model coming out soon.

"It's all about symmetry for me" while wearing the KC hat with an arrow pointing to the right. Just joking I'm the same way but probably a bit worse since that kind of stuff annoys me for some stupid reason, especially logos without symmetry. That thing about lacing the shoes differently for each foot is something I never thought of though, I'm probably gonna get it stuck in my head from now on but luckily I mostly wear slip-ons haha

That’s what old skate shoes looked like even from actual skate companies that were hot at the time like Globe, Circa, Osiris or DVS. I think they look sick in a ‘dad shoe’ kinda way. Fits the mature New Balance aesthetic but also is something they haven’t done before in the Numeric line.

This was really enjoyable! Also, never a pass on mongo. If you can skate switch, you can push switch. Good for him he wants to do it, skate how you want. But giving him too much leeway on this and sets up people with a bad example.
