So if you notice, those markings on Kanan's mask resemble the ones on Rex's helmet. In legends where there were other Mandalorians helping Jango train the clones, those markings resembled the eyes of an extremely deadly beast the Mandalorians would fight as a test of strength and skill, if the Mandalorian was victorious they would paint those markings on their armor. The Mandalorians training the clones would allow a few who really impressed them to also wear these markings. I know this is all legends but with Sabine on the crew and her love of art I like to think that she painted those markings on Kanan's mask as a sign of respect for him defeating Maul after loosing his sight.

Fun fact: the force power Ezra used on the walker was mind dominate- something very few force users are capable of pulling off. It's a dark sise technique that doesn't rely on tricking someone's mind; it completely dominates it

Part of me wanted to see Ezra be tempted by the dark side throughout the season, but I like that they wrapped that up in this episode. And I can’t wait to see you guys finally see why Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of the greatest characters in all of Star Wars!

One of the 12 Grand Admirals personally appointed to the rank by Darth Sidious himself to do his bidding and crush his enemies. Like his fellow servants, Vader and Tarkin, Thrawn does not require glory, only results... for his Emperor.

Tom Baker is really channelling the Doctor in the role as the Bendu, that mysterious aura and almost cosmic understanding of everything from his eons of life. So cool and needed so we know the Jedi and the Sith aren't the be all and end all of the Force.

I love how Star Wars animations included so many interesting things about the Force, expanding the concepts and introducing creatures and beings that are users of the Force and not just putting them in the role of Jedi and Sith. Bendu is one of the most interesting and I wanted to see more of him.

There are no AT-STs in Star Wars rebels the walkers you have been seeing since the first episode are called AT-DPs all-terrain defense pod. These walkers are roughly 3 to 4 m taller than the traditional chicken walker in episode six. The scout walker is armed to the freaking teeth with gray launchers anti-personnel, laser cannons, anti-vehicle cannons. The all-terrain defense pod is equipped with a single anti-vehicle blaster. It’s the equivalent to a turbo laser. You know those guns mounted on battleships? He designed these walkers dates back to the pre-production of episode six in legends they were re-create it is much much much smaller, but the cockpit and let design pretty much remained the same. In Star Wars rebels, they were scaled up to be towering, walking AA guns.

The thing about the Dark Side is that it works exactly like your drug and beer jokes. It's Heroin.

And here comes Thrawn, the greatest military mind in Star Wars (and I'd argue also one of the greatest in all of fiction) due to his unrivaled analytical skills and the most inept person you'll ever meet when it comes to political games (as characters have remarked in-universe, which always cracks me up, if I'm being honest). He's a Chiss, a species from the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy. He was first created for the "Thrawn"-trilogy of books in Legends which is set after "Return of the Jedi", an amazing book series I can recommend to everyone and anyone, Star Wars fan or not. Luckily, his creator, Timothy Zahn, is still alive and wrote two trilogies for the New Canon after Thrawn's return in this show. While receptions are mixed on those (personally, I enjoyed them all very much but some people were disappointed with some of the books), most people I've talked to and saw talking about them agree that the first of those books "Thrawn" is also a worthwhile read on par with the books from the "Thrawn" trilogy. I won't go into his lore since I don't think you can do it properly without being spoilery. Just know that he has earned every bit of hype surrounding him. Also, do note that whiile the Rebels recanonized him, most people prefer his portrayal in the books as he is not as cold and ruthless there as he is in this series.

Good call on the Lion Turtle/ATLA connection. Visiting a wise ancient is just part of the mythic cycle folks are all mining for these heroes journey stories but still, Filoni was a director on ATLA for like season 1 so I can't imagine that stuff happened in a vacuum.

Ha FINALLY THE BENDU BABY YEAH!!!!!! Ok from "Legends" they were getting more into that (there is no black and no white within the Force ) but since Disney took over and relegated all the books to Legends status Dave Filoni ( who has an affinity to "Legends Lore" you can see him bringing some elements into this Star Wars continuity ). By bringing Thrawn ( a legends character ) and the concept of Bendu being the one in the middle. I personally love that concept, when I read the books and when I first watched Rebels seeing Bendu ( Tom Backer being one of my favorite Doctor Who doctors) I was more than excited of that concept possibly coming into play for some force wielders.
