At the end of 2022 I felt the great urge to redo my witchy altar. So here you go: An updated witchy altar tour! I hope that this video shows you that your witchcraft altar doesn't have to abide by any rules apart from yours. Altar tours personally always inspire me, so I hope I could do the same for you.
My channel is all about witchcraft, norse paganism and spirituality in general. If you're curious about my upcoming videos, make sure to subscribe!

I was a closet witch forever. And I never had the money for proper tools. I went to thrift stores and improvised. My first cauldron was a large brass ashtray. Nothing looked inherently witchy, except to me, and I could hide it in plain sight. Now, I'm older, my collection has grown, but I still don't have traditional witchy items. My deity statues are copies of famous pieces of artwork, like venus de milos, Michelangelo's David, etc or pieces of tourist art like stone figures of indigenous peoples of mexico and north america. Lately, I've taken to pieces of art from Africa of figures, humans in abstract, flowing curves. Circles of dancers, mother and child, lovers, or curled up single humans. I only have two pieces one would consider true earth goddesses of this time period now. I mix all that with pieces of chinese, Tibetan and Japanese art, different buddhas and immortals. Pieces that look like I'm an art collector, not a witch. I do have crystals, but I only keep the large interesting ones out. The rest I keep in stone boxes and pull out when I want them. My herbs are stored in my closet along with extra candles and my candles all come from candle factories that make popular scents, or plain, regular candles that are in plain candle holders and dont look witchy. I do collect crystal and glass balls of different colors, some being globes, all vintage, and my real crystal ball hides within these in plain site. While it might look slightly new age mixed with vintage art, kind of a bohemian feel in that, nothing screams witchy, and yet it's all items I work with and love. I've learned over many years, that it's not what the item truly is, it's what it represents to you. And so I'm just as content with my odd assortment of various works of art scattered throughout my house as I would be by having a proper witchy altar that looks like it belongs in a witchy magazine. I find that this is a great way to hide in plain site, and have multiple altars to fit their needs without causing any issues. Your altar is beautiful, and your personality shines through it. A wonderful place of serenity and peace.

So true. Although I didn't have all of the Wiccan representation on my altar, I'm still having to think about what I want to keep out in my space. I'm sure it will change once I move out.

Beautiful altar space. I love those old fashion desks. They you give a lot of space to work with and nice layers to work with. I find your message in the video to be wonderful and more people need to hear its okay to have your altar to look and reflect how a person is, rather than what is stated in rules. I love thrifting for things I'd like to have. I love old/vintage metal/brass candle holders, candle sniffers, carved glass bowls, ect. You need to make a altar feel like home, your home, not someone else's.

@@TheNorseWitch There is just something about vintage thrifted items. I find they last longer than anything I can buy at any store new. I was hunting for a bell. I could find anything to my liking. One day I found a brass cowbell behind some tin plates. It had a perfect ring. It has become one of my favorite tools now.

i totally agree with the part where you said don’t feel like you have to have items that are seen as witchy. i recently purchased a wax melter and wax cubes to replace my candles for one of my deities! i feel like younger me would’ve stuck with the candles because they’re more traditional even though wax cubes are much better for me personally

I have never had a center altar. I have little altars all over my home for ancestors, certain Orishas, saints and deities. I do have a Spiritual Room. It where I do workings and tarot readings. I also realized over time that buying crystals was a waste. I end up having them more as decorations. I don’t end up doing anything with them. I replaced them with shells 🐚. That’s more my style

I love this, even though it had been ages since I moved on from Wicca, I had so many thing that were stuck in my head that had to be on my altar that I’d always found useless. It took years to figure out what I actually want on mine and actually use but it’s perfect now. I really love the furniture piece yours is in, that’s such a great idea.

My altar is truly my happy place. Although I do have a lot of the usual suspects in my “Craft Room “ and on my altar, it is without a doubt my own. It has my personal touch all over it. And if one would see my altar space, they would see my unique imprint as well.

@@TheNorseWitch Witchcraft in general, all the grounding and the spells and the ingredients, it looks fascinating and I love reading about it, but I don't think it's for me personally. Magick looks complicated and my simple Neanderthal brain just looks at like, overwhelming lol.

@@TheNorseWitch one simple thing i like to do is offer incense and whiskey to Loki (i really like Loki) and i have Loki prayer beads (a pagan rosary basically) i use, or sometimes ill read the Poetic Edda and meditate on what im reading. I hope that that's an acceptable way to spend time with the gods without using magick.
