Knowing how it turned out, I hate to say it, but that's the biggest strength of animation or CG work, it's flexible. Sit in the directors seat for a minute, and think of how many things can go wrong on the animation side, if the studio doing the animated or CG work doesn't meet the deadline, or if they get into controversy and KZfaq wants to avoid it, etc. etc. The director did the right thing, he didn't want something going wrong to be blamed on his bad prep work.

Only someone like Markiplier, Matpat, or Jacksepiceye could bring back the rewinds. They've done holiday charity streams, which they could make a rewind but have it be a live stream and not a basic video.

Watching the rewinds, you can see how KZfaq slowly evolved from a platform of independent creators, to a corporate entity dependent on the dazzle of celebrity status. Which honestly kind of hurt being someone who grew up with KZfaq as a spare time after school. XD

@@Zandofle ever heard of the study done on reddit where they would make posts then give it either a few upvotes or downvotes They found that people are far more likely to downvote something if they see it has downvotes already and the same applies in reverse It applies to youtube dislikes aswell people are much more likely to dislike a video if it has a large number of dislikes on it, because people will jump on a bandwagon. KZfaq didnt disable dislikes they simply made you unable to see the number

Mr Beast isn’t the only widely recognized KZfaqr they could grab, I’m sure they’d be able to get MatPat to make an appearance since he hasn’t technically gone retired yet as he’s working behind the scenes and is the one doing the GTLive stuff still.

@@woaddragon Correct, but it is interesting that in the recent couple of rewinds. YT had them front and center. And yes, I bet it was to appease to the people that never even heard of YT before those celebrities and "tonight show hosts" advertised that they were in a "rewind".

one of my friends tried to become an animator in youtube, and their videos kept being labelled as "for kids" despite the content of their videos not being appropriate for kids, simply because (at least back then) its animation. And because of that, it was killed in the algorithm because no ads. They tried fighting it, managed to find a trick to stop it being labelled "for kids" by adding the word f*ck at the end of the video.... unfortunately more than half still got demonetised. Eventually they got some BS strikes from youtube, and quit and deleted their channel. So sad because they were a really good animator IMO.

I've once seen a post from a (reasonably) upset parent, about KZfaq Kids, y'know THE APP FOR YOUNG KIDS...showing a clip from Family Guy(a show that varies when it comes to ranking but mostly falls somewhere between PG14-MA) in which Peter comes to Lois wit a knife and asks her how should he cut himself with purpose of unalving(all with a gesture) and Meg shouts him very specific instructions. Solely bc "animation" and bc it was supposed to be a joke. Now, taste and whatever it's a good joke aside, a little kid might have trouble with recognizing a joke like this...when it's played more straight and characters aren't laughing and as far as I remember there is no laugh track.

10:40 not wanting to start anything here!, just running a fact by here: the reason directors will have the other person say the other person's line right there and then is just a failsafe precaution in case something happens or comes up to the original guy who was suppose to do it originally and then they have it if they can't come through for any reason, and don't have to get something last minute!, plus there already there getting paid, have the set, set hehe, etc, just trying to shine some light on the subject! (took film study in my high school years).

Animating as an artist I dabbled in that in college the flash classes which is a dead tool, 1 second is a lot of frames and frames are what shapes movement in animation, it is multiple still images put together to form an animation so don't waste an animator time because that a lot of work making frames to form a second!

Totally agree.. KZfaq started pushing News and TV stuff and people hated it.. 2018 rewind was a culmination of that.. It was never great but the rewinds had some semblance of regular non corporate humans..

KZfaq Spaces were great. I got to occasionally use the one in Tokyo with my friend back when I lived there (the sub count in tokyo was waaaay lower... it was like 500? 5000?), but they would also throw these... like... monthly (maybe every other week, it was awhile back) parties at the space for all the youtubers in japan to come to if they wanted to no matter their sub count. If they had a channel, and they made content for it, they could show up and bring a friend. KZfaq Spaces were so rad. I wish KZfaq hadn't closed them all.

same... i miss those old days... a lot of good content creators are going away or just breaking away from this company cause well... it had it's time to shine when it was great but now its just a former of itself and shallow. there's really no passion at all around as much as it had back in the days. the stupid ass corporations didn't need to put their grubby hands on youtube and they did... this is the cause and effect when they put their hands all over it when people were enjoying themselves and others without the bullshit. Now i'm still here sure but i'm hoping for another one to pop up and not sell out like this one did...

Its kinda hard to have any sympathy for the guy when his actions are why they don't care about their creators and attempt to appeal to the 'celebrity' and mainstream. As soon as he got a big enough following he moved from a place where he could create and afford to create at the skill and speed he wanted and moved to LA to 'make it big' in hollywood. There is nothing stopping him or any large animator doing a youtube animations rewind, the vtuber community is trying to create their own meta culture with awards and stuff, but naw he will complain about the time he was happy instead of just doing it himself. When you become an adult you become responsible for your own happiness its not mom and dads fault they no longer throw birthday parties for you.

People make jokes and all but I'm genuinely serious when i say it kinda hits me in my feels when i think about what youtube was during my time. It just doesn't feel the same anymore there's no authenticity, everything looks super digital and processed. It's all just kids with skibidi toilet stuff and looksmaxxing and gym bros and outside of that there's vtubers and all which I don't mind, but even the vtubers started feeling less authentic. Pewdiepie's end and retirement really did mark the end of an era We've still got Mark and Jack though, especially Mark Man do i miss when youtubers would just hop on a game recording it in 720p or even 480p Have microphones that weren't TRASH, but weren't perfect and flawless either. Back when everyone used NCS and Alan walker and Tobu songs in the background of their videos. MLG and YTP Back when people would be cancelled on twitter for anything and EVERYTHING. man ion want an isekai, I just wanna be reincarnated in those times

yeah im not sure what theyd even do. the last community thing i saw them do was for Mattpatt so like props to them for making an actaul farewell to mattpatt and posting it on the youtube channel. it was very well done and actaully kinda felt like the community as a whole coming together again. we probably will never get something like that again from them .

If I recall, 2018 was the year KZfaq demonetized all ASMR (even deleting a few channels) and then had the gal to include ASMR as part of Rewind, all in a year when asmr basically made the platform fat wads of cash. KZfaq sure is a hell of a place, ain't it?!

The average joe has NO IDEA how long and tedious the animation prosses can be. So they expect a several minute video with in an insanely short deadline.
