russ, they shed their fur in warm weather, then grow it back for winter...unless they are ill / rabid / etc. But buffalo and biso are good eating!

Great Buffalo video captured during your visit to North Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Yes, I think the animals do shed during the summer then build up for the long cold winter months.

Inspiring to know it was that way there before Betsy Ross was sewing the flag and that it's preserved for generations to yet come. Thanks Russ!

I visited the park about five years ago. It was beautiful! We were there for two days. The first day was much like yours… We saw one buffalo. The second day, however, we were surrounded by 100 at a time. It was very impressive!

This campground was a godsend for us, went through Williston on a Friday evening after a West to East trek on Highway 2 from Glacier NP. No hotel accomodations due to the oil 'rush'. A lot of Northbound traffic, oil rigs and all I suppose. Watford City was crowded, and wound up setting up a tent in the dark, and was it windy! Once settled, beautiful place.

I also came from glacier and wanted to camp at lewis and Clark but it was full. Large herd of buffalo roamed through my campsite twice.

Fun to see this! I live nearby (a small town south of the South Unit), so I always enjoy seeing it from the point of view of others. I still miss the old bridge over the Little Missouri. It was really changed out to accommodate the Oil Field traffic. Depending on which way you're headed south, you might enjoy Medicine Rocks State Park between Baker and Ekalaka, MT. Ekalaka is a cool little town too, but then a lot of empty space south of there.

I was really impressed with your equipment like the Honda generator running on propane, your broadcast antennas, and the all-important refrigeration unit. Do you have a portable compressor in case your tires need air?? How was your camping overnight at Space 29?? Thanks for the tour of the Bighorn Battlefield. Of all the places I have frequented out west, the Bighorn Battlefield I have never visited. Thanks for the tour!!

We toured Theodore Roosevelt National Park In Medora, ND this week. I have to say this about that. It's like Yellowstone WITHOUT any of the attractions. If you get the chance, DO pass this one up. We only did the South Unit.

You can't overstate the benefits of the NPS Sr Pass. We have a few yrs on you & it's saved us a boatload of $$ as we've travelled across the country. Loved ND Badlands so much better than SD, like you. We may be partial to ND tho, having lived in Grand Forks & always heading W to vacation with our kids.

Why do they call them bad lands?
@rachelstrobel7987
@rachelstrobel7987 2 жыл бұрын
The native Americans called them that because they are so hard to navigate and have so few sources of water. In the summer the temperature is above 100 F and in the winter it can be -40 or below. So before the modern Era they were almost unlivable compared to the prairies and grasslands
