Yes, I'm 65 and still like my rock, blues, southern rock loud. They haven't heard musicians that are really good and songs have meaning. They like beat and bass 🔊 🤣. But will give other stuff a listen 🎶. 🎶 I love when they get happily surprised.

Something a girl said to me once that has stuck with me for decades... Queen didn't make songs. They made anthems. Every one of their songs is like it's in it's own genre, truly insanely gifted group of musicians. I highly recommend doing a reaction to their entire Live Aid performance at Wembly. It's a bit long, but it's worth it. Truly one of the most powerful live performances in history.

Did you know that Legendary Queen guitarist Sir Brian May, is also an astrophysicist with a PhD? He was also a "science team collaborator" with NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission. He not only collaborated with NASA on its New Horizons mission to Pluto but also created a rock anthem and video to honor the spacecraft, which in 2019 logged the most distant flyby in history-and is still going. Bass guitarist John Deacon, has a degree in Electronics. Drummer and backing vocalist Roger Taylor, has a bachelor's degree in biology. Freddie Mercury had a degree in graphic art and design.

Queen is actually considered to have done the greatest live set in musical history, when they took the stage at the Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985. The way Freddie had the audience in the palm of his hand has never been matched, at least on video. Every other band there that day, and there were some of the best ever, said that it was Queen's day and that they had never seen a crowd react like that before.

It definitely was a foreboding line, in retrospect. I feel the “man” he killed is himself. I feel it’s related to his original mental struggle of being gay in the face of loving Mary, his fiancé, and the expectations of his parents and the Zoroastrian faith. He made the decision to embrace his homosexuality and killed the old Freddie.

It is rumored (and partially confirmed) that he wrote this about a plague that had began hitting a few of his close friends and he watched them battle it. At that time it was wasn't studied yet much less named, it was simply whispered about as "that gay disease".

I'm 39 and enjoy all genres of music, old and new, foreign and local, from the heaviest metal, to the cheesiest pop. I play piano, have played the guitar and a number of other instruments, as well as having done some digital stuff as well. There is still plenty of talent (both with digital and traditional instruments), as well as there still being plenty of talented people. The issue isn't that it's disappeared, it's that people don't look deep enough. It's also worth noting that music composed digitally, like art done digitally, isn't easier. It's different, but still requires an intricate understanding of music to actually get anywhere with it.

When asked by an interviewer what instrument he played, without missing a beat Freddie Mercury answered "the audience darling". Also he was a fashion designer, Brian May (guitarist) is an astrophysicist, John Deacon (bass player) is a sound engineer and Roger Taylor (drums) was or studied to be a dentist. They did the soundtrack for the Highlander movie starring Christopher Lambert. You should check out the song 'Gimme the prize' , it's REALLY good. The album is called ' A kind of magic'. I wore that album out from constant play in my teens. It's now a must have on my playlist. 😊

Guys, the song is a vibe and a technical achievement. Nowadays you can just press a button but back then they had to have the vision and ingenuity to actually craft the operatic harmonies in the edit, which was many hours of labor. It was a genuine artistic revolution

FINALLY! I have waited months for y’all to “open your eyes” to the greatness of Queen. Btw, if a commenter has not already said this, the opening “four heads” is not four voices. It is all Freddie harmonizing with himself. He was in a class by himself but as a band together, Queen’s studio harmonies are meticulous and masterful. With some exceptions, the live versions blow studio out of the water but both are incredibly & wonderfully different experiences. Please go down the Queen rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed.

A wise man once said : if you want to know if a person is worth to be part of your life then start playing "Bohemian rhapsody". If the person doesn't know the song and don't move or start showing any positive feelings for it, then kick it out of your life 😁😂Freddy Mercury was a genius. I cried a river as I saw the report about his death in the news as I was a teenager 😢😞I will never forget him and I know a lot of people won't do either. He gave the world a big gift. Freddie trained to be a opera and classical singer but became one of the best front men of one of the best rock bands ever!
@Retrochild1979
@Retrochild1979 Жыл бұрын
Thanks to Quora: Freddie did not have operatic training. His only training came from being in choir in boarding school and taking piano lessons. Freddie was a self taught singer and worked very hard to practice and determine his best sound. He fell in love with Montserrat Caballé‘s operatic vocals, and when she asked to meet him, he and Mike Moran went to Barcelona to see her. They formed an immediate bond which led to the creation of the album. Barcelona Freddy sang in the tenor range, but Montserrat said he was a true baritone, and he sang that way for her.

What gets forgotten to history is Queen's Another One Bites the Dust was a top of the Motown, Pop, Rock and a few more charts all at once. One of those rare songs that really crossed genre's and a diverse group of people liked. I use to laugh when people thought Queen lifted the bass line for Under Pressure not knowing that THEY CREATED A WHOLE DECADE EARLIER.

This song was insane to produce. All real vocals no editing software, live instruments and tape recordings or vinyls. The managers/producers etc didn’t want to release the song. Purely because it’s 4 distinct segments lasting like 8 minutes when a car radio song/vinyl track should only be 3 minutes max for resale value/physical space to have more songs. Freddie Mercury wrote the song and developed it like an opera. Not as a rock ballad initially because of his personal music tastes mixed with the story telling/dramatics of opera music. (Purposefully dramatic vocal rang a mix of instrumentals from piano accompaniment to percussion and strings and vocals, with typically dark subject/context) [the snow queen aria the ‘ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haa-‘ one is about a step mother commanding her daughter to commit murder. It can be romantic operas but a flair for the dramatics is what makes a show a show in 1800-1900s] (While musicians don’t like to admit it, many composers who did violin the usual accompaniment for many operas/music they also did guitar works. It’s not hard to find guitar works that can sound similar to an opera melody/other type of song that fits with that style/instrument. They are strings and altho very different you can find overlap which makes Bohemian Rhapsody rather wild) And he forced the other band members to help complete it at a time when they were starting to have disagreements. While the falsetto is his voice and he sings the main vocals the second highest register is one of the other band members singing soprano which took multiple multiple takes.
