@@spiderdance4745 I believe it’s a performance/orientation thing for the incoming freshman. They sing about various things on campus, introduce themselves and their teachers, and I think they invite then to a welcome party or something LOL

These senior entrances always make me emotional, but this is the first time I've really felt that sort of pure friendship where you just sit around, playing the guitar and having one of those solemn jam sessions after a long day... I don't think I've seen them actually play instruments before, but it was a really nice touch... you could really feel the love class of 22 has for each other and what they do... GOOD LORD I'm emotional

I think this is the best one I’ve seen so far, don’t get me wrong I love all of them, but this one is just different. You can feel the energy through the screen, you can see how excited everyone is to finally be back. Loved this, it had me in tears.

Michae McElroy is the Department and that is his arrangement of Sunday they were singing. His own harmonies! He’s an incredible Broadway Vet and led the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir for many years and they sang his own arrangements of Broadway songs.

every time i watch this i just wonder how michael mcelroy was feeling, seeing these seniors using his arrangement of sunday, singing his name in incredible harmony, lined up in a ‘M’ to welcome him back with such open-hearted reverence as their department chair. what an amazing tribute and MOMENT 🥺🥺

the hairspray part made me cry so much cause I'm in ninth grade in highschool in Costa Rica and going to umich is literally my dream lol. I've been saying I wanna go there for over a year now and I think about it everyday 😭😭😭 senior entrances always make me cry cause I see people living and experiencing what I wish to

I have an acquaintance (a bit of a stretch… I don’t think he knows who I am) in this class at UofM. I remember when he got into the program, everyone in our community was so proud of him. It’s so weird to see him as a senior now, and I know he’s just going to thrive after he gets out there!

I'm 72, which means I've been a theater kid for 60 years. (Those two numbers astonish me as I key them.) You're all wonderful. Enjoy every minute--even the awful ones--of your brave, tender, joyful, terrible, passionate lives. My heart goes with you.

I am a 15 year old teenager from Canada who’s never even heard of this university or it’s musical theatre program but this video brought tears to my eyes. The talent, creativity and overall really positive energy that this video brought is insane.❤️

i have had a year to reflect, rewatch, digest... and nothing will convince me that this senior entrance will EVER be topped. the cameraderie and sheer love for eachother, singing chops, incredible choreo and insanely talented dancers, clever writing and storyelling, highlighting their diversity and unique skillsets... the beautiful little touches, like including the hamilton 'bullet' choreo as a sneeze for the covid section and using michael mcelroy's own stunning arrangement of 'sunday' to welcome him as the new chair, playing their own instruments and that ORIGINAL SONG?! they really helped us understand the disrupted, strange educational experience from all of the interruption that covid-19 and quarantine brought for them, but also the resilience, commitment and emotional maturity that brought them through it and produced all of this. we should put it in a time capsule to show future generations fr. HAIL, CLASS OF 2022! go blue

Love this! If there had been more diversity in the industry ten years ago I may have felt comfortable enough to pursue musical theater. Big kudos to all you beautiful people making Broadway and theatre more inclusive and wonderful.

I’m in England too, not a teacher and not even any good at singing but absolutely LOVED that! I’ve never seen or even heard of one of these senior entrances before but wow they are so amazing! It makes me wish we’d had something like this over here when I was at school. I love their positivity, it comes across so strongly and the talent is just beyond anything! I’m so coming back each year to look for this, how fantastic!

The talent here is insane - to write these lyrics, to perform these harmonies and dances… just wildly impressive. From a poet’s standpoint, I can’t help but notice a running motif - so many of these songs are about looking cute/taking nice selfies/blowing up on insta/‘glowing up’… I don’t think it was a deliberate motif, but it might speak to the pressures today’s young actors face to Look Pretty Above All Else…

Ok so I’m in Singapore and I don’t know why this was recommended to me. But, as a musical theatre fan, I’m glad it was. My jaw dropped at the level of talent. I can’t believe you guys are students. I was in London and listened in on a class of MT students there. They pale compared to you. But I’m also an ex Producer who spots special talent. I promise you, the guy who played the violin at the end, he will make it big. Ps who is he???

STUNNING! takes my breath away every time 🥺 and the most beautiful tribute- it was arranged by the new department chair michael mcelroy (the MICHAAEEELLL they’re singing to, lined up in the Michigan ‘M’) when he was the lead of Broadway Inspirational Voices- BIV- choir. On so many levels, incredible, moving, powerful, stunning ❤️

Wow. I’ve been watching these since my freshman year of high school and I’d always get so excited to see them and look up to these amazing performers. I’m a senior (hs)now, the last song had me in tears. I’m so excited for next year, and I’m so beyond terrified too. I will be transferring, but god, do I want to be a wolverine someday.
