I'm taking a look at some of the more advanced features in Insight Faceswap, answering questions to addressing common installation issues, showing you all the commands, to give you a better understanding of how to choose your default face and how to keep track of all the faces you've uploaded. You'll also learn how to master the /setid command and the correct sequence to follow for optimal results.
Did someone say 'multiple faces'? Yes, you heard that right! However, remember that the more faces you add, the quicker you burn through your daily allotment of 50 image credits.

Thankyou so much for making such a detailed video on face swapping!! Its amazing. I was using the single face swapping until now after watching your previous tutorial on installing insight face swap. But when I tried it with multiple faces(2) as you explain here, it said that I need a subscription to use tis feature :( well.. I wasn't aware of that.

Great tutorials! I just want to add: if you use the /delid to delete an especific ID, and you have the same name with numbers let's say "Tom" "Tom2" "Tom3", if you delete "Tom" it will delete all the other ID with the same name, in this case "Tom2" "Tom3"

I was playing around with it after seeing your last video. My take is that only changes the face, but not the shape of the head. So the most important to to try finding a similar skull structure and/or using liquify in ps afterwards.

Totally agree! I was just playing with that today. Actually, Photoshop's face liquify can do some pretty great work. I think once we hit the point where you can upload 3 or more reference photos of the same person, and have something like Insightface swap it, well-- then it'll really be there.

Something that works for me is using the face image as ref in your prompt and then swapping faces, seems to help with face physiology.

Thanks, Tim. It's a big ask to expect any face recognition software to interpolate a front on image to a profile view. I would've thought that if you were looking to build a consistent character viewed from different angles, it might work to allocate separate ID's of the same character for Front Profile left Profile right 3/4 left 3/4 right back of head I haven't seen anyone try that yet, but it makes sense, if you're looking for accuracy

I think it’ll get there, you gotta figure this is like 2 weeks old. My guess is at some point they’re release something where you can tag multiple images for one character and start building out a real model if that person. One thing I noticed on rewatch; you can see Brad Pitt’s jawline jutting out of mine. So, it’s close, but not quite there yet!

Yep that’s what I do. I have a front view and a side profile view. Those 2 are good enough to do any face swap, as long as the image looks similar to you as was stated in the video.

Tim, I've been waiting to do face swaps for ever!, like ... what... 3 weeks!! So many many thanks for this and your other video. Back to that last video, what happens with bangs is that the plugin can't define the person's forehead. The result is similar to what you got with the Jedi Beard ("unbearded" pelple like you and me are in trouble these days...), there's an odd artifact on the final image which looks like the ghost of the original bang on the now empty forehead.

Oh, that’s interesting! I was trying to wrap my head around why bangs wouldn’t work, to me, it would seem like that was just more information (the forehead) the system could “see” But it makes sense, I guess with bangs the bot can’t tell where the “end point” of the face is. Almost like driving off a cliff you didn’t notice. I also grow a very terrible beard. It’s all patchy. Haha, I will never get to join ZZ Top.

So yeah I think I need to dig around in another language here in order to express to you the Delight that I have from you having created this video. I don't normally say this but, Belgium, this was super useful thank you! Specifically the section on the multiple faces and how to do the left to right they swapping was something that I am going to be using and your explanation as in near perfect in my mind.

This seems to work very well when your pic you upload is a more 'plain' expression. But as you alluded to with the previous vid, you can upload a pic of yourself that more matches the target image (Screaming, sad, cheesy grin, scowl etc...) and that also seems to have some fairly favorable results. 👍

Thank you Tim! Great video. Excellent pointers on how to tackle thuis plug-in. I’ve been experimenting with Insight Faceswap on images of people wearing Cirque du Soleil style make-up and/or large wigs but with very little succes. I only get horribly distorted nightmare-fuel results. I guess Insight only works with ‘clean’ faces… What’s your experience with this kind of faceswap?

I’ll give it a shot, but yeah, I can see that being a problem. Almost like the glow of the lightsaber from the last video, I don’t think insight does well with information outside of “face” You may want to try using Photoshop (or another editor) to stack your swap image over your original, and then use the eraser to lightly remove the problem areas of your swap. Doesn’t work all the time, but it might save an image or two!

I think you can? I still need to try to upload multiple IDs and run one after the other. Like, I think initially run a "base" photo, and then run an "angry" one on that output. I'm curious to see how that would go. If you have time, please let me know if it works!

Thanks so much for this tutorial and your earlier one. It's helped me a ton. I realize that the output is in smaller image dimensions even when i use a larger image as an input for swapping. Is there a way to have it output at a particular resolution/dimension?

Not yet, I don’t think. The app is still fairly early, so hopefully they’ll add that in at some point. For now, you can always use an upscale site to make it larger.

Something I’ve discovered is having midjourney create a new image, mixed with an image of your face via link. So like /imagine [link to your face] portrait of someone who resembles you. This gets you closer to your face structure. Then apply face swap to that image. That has gotten me the best results

@glasco, although you're right and I thank you for making this learning curve faster for me, what do you do when you want your face as, say, Conan, and, uh, there's just one Conan. And one very bald Captain Picard, which made me look really weird! Other than that, if it's for "actor X as character Y in movie Z" ... yes, that's something to test. Tks again!

You can! I think the command is /del_id You might want to check out a newer video I did…sorry on mobile, so I can’t get the link, but it is a newer faceswap video, with me and Indiana jones again. But that has this same model, only you can run it on your home computer. It’s pretty great and works for video!

I'm wondering: Can you submit multiple reference photos for a single id, for better results? Kind of like the painting style of 'Charles I in Three Positions', made for reference for a sculptor. Your vids are great.

Thank you so much! So, you can submit multiple IDs, but the use is more for different subjects, like Me, Her, Him, for an image with 3 people. BUT! After looking up the painting (I knew it, I just didn’t know I knew it!) I think that’s doable. Just put in three different IDs of the same target person. Something like Me1, Me2, Me3 and it should work. Alternatively, you could just cut the images into 1/3s, run swapper on each, and then paste the 3 back together in PS.

@@TheoreticallyMedia Ah ok, so it's one image per ID in this iteration. I was wondering if there was an option to train the bot for a more faithful resemblance with a few reference images for the one ID. But one can get creative by using multiple IDs for different angles. Great suggestions.

Currently, (sadly) no. They seem to be a small team who kinda blew up quick. My guess is that the 50 limit is what their hardware can support right now. I'd think in a few weeks we might see that number go up! Fingers crossed!

Hi, how did you do the reverse swap? I'm not quite clear. Where you took your hiking photo and swapped in RDJ's face. Normally you would have MJ generate an image and use that but how did you load your photo into to do the reverse swap? Thanks.

Great tutorials! thank you so much! I hope i can asked you something just about the multiply face swapping. A week ago I took out a basic plan account with MJ & i am very excited! But now I run into the following problem, I want to place two photos, (me and my girlfriend both with saved id) in a MJ renderd image of two standing people, Wes Anderson style (man and woman) that I have saved. and then promped it with /saveid > /setid, swapid, > enter. But then I get the following error! Error: Multi-face feature is exclusive to subscribers. Please upgrade on Patreon to unlock this feature and more, or modify the idname setting to continue. Can you tell me what i have do wrong? Tnx! I asked MJ about this but they tell me to asked Insightfaceswapper,... Strange that it not works, i see you do it in this tutorial! what do ik wrong?

Not that I know of, at this point, I’d be looking at training a model maybe. I think that’s the direction things will go in- sort of bypassing the need for faceswapping.

It does seem to be buggy from time to time. It is a small team, and indie at that. Maybe try setting up a few different channels?

Sorry to bother but maybe you could help? I love your tutorials, very easy to follow! I love the face swap and I've been having fun with it. I'm having an issue where when I right click on an image, the menu with "apps" etc doesn't show. If I scroll back and try an older image in the thread it works. I've tried to leave and come back, I've tried to redo the prompt etc, but every subsequent try, right click does not show any options. Do you have any insight as to why? Also, I tried in both the app and web versions. Thank you!

@@TheoreticallyMedia and yes, it's very strange. I created a new image upscaled one, but when I right click to see the options nothing happens. Then I scroll back to it. An older photo that I upscaled and I right click. I see all the options like apps, etc

Would you recommend this for getting a more closer image of an actual actor? Example: ryan gosling & whatever prompt = image looks nothing like ryan gosling but has the hair and other features with lots of similarities

Oh, 100%. I think if you use InsightFace with a Gosling source, you'll probably get him. Weirdly, I was getting a LOT of RG when I was prompting for "Nicholas Cage, Age 30"-- like, A LOT.

Hmmm, well, offhand the quick fix would be to run the swap on both faces. Then take your original pic and the double swap into a photo editor. Place the double swap on a layer below, and the original on top, and then cut the right side out. Extra step for sure, but I think until we get a command, that’s the way to go.

Hi, I can't upload my image, the image of my face, to set an FaceID, I type /saveid and when drag and drop the image, the system do accept the image, but when I click enter to upload it, nothing happen, what do you think can be the problem?

So, my recommendation at this point is to run this locally. This video is a bit old now, and there is a much better and more reliable way to do it. Although the video focuses on…well, video face swaps- it also works for stills. In fact, it is literally the same model: The Best FaceSwapper yet! After using insight face, the images do not have the midjourney rerun options. It appears that to use these, I will need to roll again and even with image link, original prompt, and seed, it seems I will not have the exact image to work with. Am I missing something or is this just a limitation?

No, there’s a limitation. Insight is kind of the end of the road, but I suppose you could take that final image and then use it as an image prompt?

That’s Photoshop or image editor territory. I think (for now) ISF just does eyes, nose, & mouth.

It does not. It apparently used to do .GIFs, but they turned that feature off. For a suggestion: Got a video tomorrow on just that!

On a Midjourney image? You’d pretty much have to re-roll it, or you’re moving into Photoshop territory. You COULD try Inpainting. Check out the latest video I have on Gen Fill without photoshop. The “James Bond” part might get you what you’re looking for

And now Insightface is flooded, impossible to submit any image, it says that over 1000 images are queued. Is there a way to make it works locally??

Not that I know of-- yeah, the Queue can be brutal. It all kind of depends on the time you're working. I was on this morning at around 8am and had only 15 ahead of me. But at peak times? It can get pretty bad.

Hello, I overfilled my account in insightFaceSwap app, I have 20 photos uploaded there, the limit is just up to 20, how to delete them so I can upload more?

i will create an AI prompt with an uploaded image of the person i will face swap later in the design aesthetics i want in the scene. the rendered image now looks very similar to the person i will be face swapping. swap id this way gets a much better fit to the original swap face.

Regarding the browser issue, the channel needs to be not private for the Insightface bot to appear. Once a channel privacy is set to 'Private' the bot will not be on the list even though your server integration would show that it's been installed correctly.

So right now the limit is 50 a day-- no way to get around it. No paid tier or anything. From what I can tell, this is a small team, and this is pretty much what their resources can handle right now. It's pretty new, so we'll need to give them time to scale up. That said, they haven't monetized this, so it's still free-- which is nice! Limit, but Free! In the video, I do talk about what time the limit resets, though--

Hello sir I can't see the three dot at the upper right side of my image that allows me to use the inswapper app. Neither can I even rightclick on the image when I give the prompt through my server. However when I go to direct messages i can see the three dot when i create images and even right click on the image. Please can u help?

I'll check in on that-- I know they just started offering a paid version (or donate model), I don't know if they've changed the multiple face rules. One workaround: Cut your image in half, run insight swapper. Then run the other half, then stitch them back together in Photoshop. Extra work, for sure...but I guess that's the difference between paid and free!

You know, I'm not sure. I've gone the other direction: Used an real face and turned it into an illustrated version-- but not the other way around. At this point, I might use Midjourney's new Inpainting to achieve that though!

@@chardy7071 MJ says they're working on storytelling tools-- and I think that's been an interesting way of putting it. Not consistent characters, but "storytelling" -- Makes me think there are a suite of improvements coming down the line that will address all of that. I'm hopeful at least! Totally agree as a concept engine, MJ is on fire.

ERROR: When I try to apply the App midjourney says "command sent, there are xxx coamnds in the queue, pleas wait". I tried it serveral times, nothing mor happens. I can wait forever. Any idea what is going wrong here?

Oh, word had gotten out and their servers/GPUs are likely getting slammed right now. From what I’ve seen, this is a small team and they probably don’t have massive amounts of resources, so I can see their bandwidth getting chewed up pretty good. Give them some time to scale up. The other idea, is maybe try to use it in “off hours” like, late at night or early in the morning. System is probably less taxed at those times.

In the video, towards the end, I go over the commands to delete all, or delete individual. Likely limited due to space. You gotta figure if it was unlimited, people would upload crazy amounts of pictures.

I see what you’re asking, and not really with this. Unless you actually took a photo wearing that makeup, and then used that as your swap target image. But out of the box, no. …still, now you’ve got me thinking that might be a really cool idea!

I don’t learn by learning what to do, I need a why. That’s how you learn if you want to be creative whats going on and why. It uses a lot more memory in YOU, but the output is much more scalable 😂 and flexible. So what I really need is how to get a picture I already have (not a Midjourney) “into” Midjourney??? And why does it work that way that I haven’t been able to figure out?

I think with some photoshopping, you can get it there. One thing I did notice on rewatch is how much Brad Pitt's jawline extends past my swap. You can actually see the skin color change. It'll get there-- haha, this thing is like, 2 weeks old! It's crazy!
