This video explains s, p, d, and f orbitals, sublevels, and their shapes. It discusses the 4 quantum numbers n, l, ml, and ms. n represents the energy level, l is associated with the sublevel, ml represents the orbital and ms is the electron spin. It also shows you how to find the 4 quantum numbers for an electron and how to write the electron configuration in addition to how to write the orbital notation or fill in the arrows in the orbital diagram for an element. In addition, this video discusses the principles of Hund's Rule, Pauli's exclusion principle, and the Aufbau principle.

Professors don’t have time to go into each lesson with this much detail. It’s our responsibility to use outside sources to supplement our learning. I mean, is 6 hours of class time a week really enough to learn the entire subject of Chemistry?

Well, there are about 70 students on my class and the teacher has to cover a certain amount of material each day, and she goes fast from one concept to another until the 50 minute period is over. With this video, you can play it over and over or back it up, listen again, stop it and take notes. Kind of hard to put the teacher on pause while you write down what he/she says. I'm usually still writing when, what she had on the ppt screen has been taken off, and she's on the next page. So, my notes have a lot of holes in them. That's why I like these videos. But, there are plenty of students that are making A's as well as F's. Therefore, is she a bad teacher for the ones that are failing and a good teacher for the ones that are acing their tests? No, there are a wide variety of students with different capabilities and some put lots of work into it while others do minimal work. So, the amount of views has nothing to do with what the teacher's teaching ability.

hmm.. idk if +Danny M meant it in a negative way (or a strike against the professor). I've had numerous teachers with a heavy accent and it did indeed make learning the subject more challenging. However, commenting on their speech doesn't mean they didn't know the subject. ------ if Danny M wasn't talking about a professor's accent but the more literal meaning of, "could barely speak English", then I agree that it's a strike on Danny M.

It is a valid point that you learn better from a person speaking the same language as you and this is affected by how well either party speaks the language in common. I don't think he is attacking the professor personally although we are conditioned to think this way. It does "sound rude" but it is a real problem for the students that need to learn the material.

Could someone explain to me how'd he get the value of l from 3p5? Since the n value is 3, wouldn't the l be (n-1)? In this case is 3-1=2?
