I'm older, so I remember being in the theater with my dad and remembering the crowd going nuts when Vader saved Luke from The Emperor in ROTJ. I also remember the long line.

I actually have a few VHS tapes of all the things I was recording on TV from back then. Every single time Entertainment Tonight had something on Star Wars I was recording it.

I wish I was born in the 1980s just for Star wars lol still happy I caught the prequels in all its glory

Waiting from '83 to '99 was a lifetime. I was fortunate to grow up with the first 3. The prequels were amazing and have aged well. I remember sitting around my work PC when Episode 1 trailer dropped since back then dial up was the norm. Things were different back then and they were an event.

I was 13 years old when i first saw the Phantom Menace in theaters when it came out, i still remember a lot of things. Example: when qui gon hit darth maul with his hand and maull fell down and we all say yessss, we all cheer for the jedi, i sometimes share this memory to new people that love movies :) AND i still remember the poster of SW Episode I it was glued on the front of the school door for theater tickets.

I was 8 when it came out. Perfect age to be with that lord of the rings and harry potter! So cool!

t makes me tear up that my mom is now gone... I was 3 years old when Return of the Jedi came out, and it made me an instant Star Wars fan. Thanks to my mom for taking me the next day and they rereleased New Hope and Empire alongside Return of the Jedi. Miss you mom, you were my hero. We were both Star Wars fans!

Look forward to seeing it again at the cines in May for its 25th anniversary

its fan's reaction like these, that i want to go watch phantom menace in theatres for myself, perhaps it's not the best Star Wars but it just feels like a movie that deserves to be experienced in theatres.

I remember my brother and I went to go see with my family for the first showing in our town. A line was waiting for the next showing and I looked at my brother and said ‘I can’t believe Qui-Gon died’ and the line was like ‘Ahhhh’ and like my brother replied back ‘Yeah I can’t believe Darth Maul killed him’ and the line went nuts. I felt bad now and the guy who dressed up as Darth Maul. Sorry dude.

Man! I remember watching Ep 2 in the theater with friends day 1 and we all cheered when Yoda busted that light saber out lol.

I share many of the feelings you had being a young star wars fan. The prequels, as flawed as they are, were hype af. I was in second grade and i remember a couple of my cub scout friends already seeing episode II and saying the yoda scene was incredible. I remember being skeptical because up until ep II, yoda was a puppet, so my expectations were low. Damn dude, george delivered. Even the marketing behind the prequels were fun too. I loved the Episode II gogurts. I remember the tube was designed like a lightsaber and the color would correspond with a jedi or sith and rumor was if you got darth vader, you could win a car or something. I miss the old days.

Dude I remember being in the theater for episode 2 and i will never forget when Yoda came out at the end and dropped his cane and grab his saber...the whole theater just started roaring in cheers and Wooos and clapping was such an awesome time..also remember episode 1 and maul drew the double blades out for the 1st time everyone screaming Holy shit...really hoping to see phantom menace for the 25th anniversary

One thing I always wanted to know is what were some common fan theories going around at the time when the Prequels were first announced? And how did these fan theories evolve and change with each movie?

I remember when The Phantom Menace was released. Man alive, people HATED that film. Attack of the Clones was the final nail in the coffin for a lot of fans. Revenge of the Sith kinda helped things, although not by much. Flash forward over two decades and all the kids who saw the Prequels love them more than most family members , and they condem the Sequel Trilogy. Twenty years from now, it'll happen all over again..

Good old times 1997 (the special editions in cinema) 1999-2002-2005 great time to be in cinema. I was 5 in 77 but couldn’t go to the cinema but I remember when the toys came out in 78 kids at school had brought their figures a friend almost traded me is Boba Fett for my c3po and I didn’t wanted 😃 Those were the Star Wars times I remember before the dark times before Disney….

I've said it once and I'll say it an infinite amount of times: If I could travel to any point in time, it would be to May 25th, 1977, the day the world was introduced to Star Wars. I'm happy to say I was lucky enough to see Revenge of the Sith in theaters when I was 8 years old, the best of the prequel trilogy.

I’m glad I was able to experience the MCU infinity saga, but I really wish I didn’t miss out on the starwars hype

Star Wars is like pizza.. every one loves it or “loved it” 😂 there’s some for everyone and there are many toppings and variety’s you can eat them or watch them.

Honest question because I did not watch the sequels in the theaters. Did people cheer and go crazy during any moments during the sequels like they did during the prequels? Or was it all booing and people walking out?
