I wonder if anyone feels the same, but I almost have a theory that Emerald Fennell might be like the new Adam McKay if that makes sense? Like she's a provocateur, some people utterly loath her style but many adore it, and despite divisive reactions she'll just get in anyway? Like Promising Young Woman and Don't Look Up are almost on the same level of divisiveness and they both performed terrifically. I think there's a real chance that she has enough support in the industry to squeeze Saltburn into Picture, Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, and maybe even Rosamund Pike for a nice awards package.

I think what helped Adam McKay with Vice and Don’t Look Up was the theme of “conservatives suck” and also being in weak years

Poor Things and Barbie are basically each other's main rival, as they can be pitted in almost all the same categories- Picture, Production Design, Costume, Actress, Suppoting Actor...I do think Oppenheimer is getting Picture, Director, Screenplay and a few technicals, while Barbie and Poor Things split up the rest of the technicals, acting and art categories.

Emma Stone and Carey Mulligan for Best Actress, Barry Keoghan for Best Actor. Poor Things, Maestro and Saltburn are some of my biggest hopes this season, besides my TIFF to-do list Next Goal Wins, Dumb Money, Quiz Lady, Toll, Monster and Rustin. And Lee because we want another DiCaprio/Winslet reunion at the Academy awards 😍

You guys are so high off the buzz, Nolan will sweep director, he is way over due and exceeded expectations with 800million box office on a 3 hour biopic. Poor Things will win 4 oscars, Actress, Make Up, Costume, and production design
@TheCatIndeed11 ай бұрын
Costume and production design are Barbie’s awards for certain.
@poett887511 ай бұрын
Poor things will not pose any threat to Barbie when it comes to production design and costumes. And makeup seems like Maestro’s to lose. Lead Actress is definitely possible tho. However, I wonder if Emma Stone already having an Oscar will hold her back from winning.
@TheCatIndeed11 ай бұрын
@@poett8875 I think stone is the movie’s most likely award. It could also get screenplay, but in my opinion that entirely rides on whether Barbie is in original or adapted.

Poor Things is getting me so freaking on, I'll watch it in New York, alongside with Maestro (Carey!!!), All of Us Strangers and Ferrari (which is turning me off rn but I'll give it a chance) Based on your Cannes reviews, I'll give a look to The Zone of Interest, Monster and Anatomy of a Fall at TIFF, specially excited for the Triet/Huller duet. Others that I'm on board is La Chimera by Alice Rohrwacher who got a Silver Medallion at Telluride and Toll by Caroline Markowicz who got the Tribute Award at TIFF, and I'll surely be waiting for your reviews on them cause I'm riding these awards hype (you didn't really review La Chimera, correct me if I'm wrong). Plus they're female directed films, which kinda matters - some of my favorites this year are female directed (Barbie and Past Lives) Others at TIFF that I already have tickets for are these ones you mentioned: Holdovers, Rustin, Nyad and Boy and the Heron. And some dark horses: Fingernails (Riz and Buckley!!!), Concrete Utopia and Woman of the Hour (also female directed by miss Anna Kendrick)

I feel like Andrew Scott will have to get full-on critics support to have a true shot. I think he could take Giamatti's spot.

I'm mostly looking forward the international picks, could be a year with more of that in Best Picture (Decision to Leave and all the International Picture films last year were Best Picture worthy) Hopeful to see less bias - and I'm a proud fellow american. Barbenheimer and Emma Stone are enough. And Scorsese.

It would be a shame if Across the Spider Verse does not get a Score nomination because I find it hard to believe that the fall festival movies are going to have a better score than this one.

Even if it's nominated, it's not winning and beating Ludwig for Oppenheimer and whoever did the score in Poor things.
@Kitellu8611 ай бұрын
@@nikitamohan3390 I agree that it is not winning against Oppenheimer. I have not heard the score for Poor Things so I can’t comment about it for the time being irrespective how good Poor Things actually is.
@seankoontz423511 ай бұрын
@Kitellu86 There’s still room for it. Oppenheimer, Poor Things, and Flower Moon are the top 3 I’d say, then Spider-Verse is number 4 and 5 is kind of ambiguous

@nikitamohan339011 ай бұрын
@@dgdanne I heard mixed reviews on it in the sense there's no real plot with the BOy and the Heron. Why can't nominations just be given out in terms of the merit and quality of the work alone instead of other prejudiced factors like "someone hasn't been nominated before" or "it's their time"! @nikitamohan339011 ай бұрын
Dune 2's budget is 150 to 200 million. More than awards, they need their actors and stars to promote the hell out of that film cuz they want the film to be a huge box office hit. That's why they moved because of the SAG strike.
